Look at page 79, and the practice of Professional Boyfriends (Koo Yae Chai), a pretty insidious situation where girls were tricked into working to help their "boyfriend" repay various loans .

Another interesting quote: "since many Hong Kong girls now see prostitution is a rational alternative to their educational abilities and future prospects in manual, clerical, and retail jobs, young girls are now relatively easily recruited to be sex workers by triads”. This was in the 80s according to the article I don't know if it is still true, now that there are so many mainland WG's here.

Another quote: “in some cases owners of vice establishments are retired law enforcers or people whose family members are law enforcers”

Page 83 gives a breakdown of how the fees are shared, and given its price of HKD 420, I assume this is still pretty much the case today. the poor WG gets only about 25% of what she collects from us.

Wow - that was a fascinating read... And looking at the breakdown of costs for the HGs, I am now convinced that I should be tipping more. I mean - out of a $800 tab, she is making like $100. That sucks eggs. So if I tip her like the extra $200, its the same as seeing 2 other dudes. And, fuck, what's $200 to me? Nothing. Really makes you think.

It also makes clear the economics on why they may not want to do overnighters - because they are getting only the 1 tip, but having 3 slots filled for their time. If they did 3 different calls instead, that would be the same money, but three chances to be tipped - and since it looks like the real profits for them are in the tips... they end up losing out on an overnighter, unless the guys triples his tip. Which he probably will not.

That's it - for me, $200 minimal tips for HGs.

EDIT: This, of course, assumes that they aren't required to share their tips... which I doubt they are. But... anyone know anything there?

thanks for the link gwailoplayer.  Interesting reading and puts things in perspective.  I guess the numbers may have changed a bit in the 7 years since the report was tabled. Makes more more motivated to "help" out as many WG's I can.
