Police Lurking in the Lobby of Champagne Court B

I strolled by there 2 nights ago (7:30) and they were there, two of HK's finest, taking notes with pen and paper of guys coming and going via the elevator and stairs.

I browsed the watches and left.

It is called visible deterrent, a simple message to let punters know that they are being watched when the come into the building, an attempt at psychological pressure to scare them off. Punters going to see 141s are not breaking the law provided the girl is not underage. If they are here without the right visa then I don't think any risk of wrongdoing falls on the punter, only the girl. If they stop you in the hall just cooperate and let them see your ID, you are in the building for a reasonable purpose and they can't do anything to you.

Maybe they are looking to collar the girl's handlers or landlords?

Anyone here who have any experience with police tactics can confirm? .

Keep on mongering

I saw a mysterious van with some gentlemen waiting inside of it outside of the building during CNY.  Could've been anyone
, but I walked away anyway.  Its best to trust your gut instinct.  There are better options in the area anyway.

Number one rule of punting: if you feel unsafe, walk away. Too safe is better than the alternative. There are a couple thousand ways to get laid in Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, or any other major Asian city. If one feels off, walk the fuck away. It's not like other options aren't available.

Champagne Court

i've got no specific intel w/regard to HK LE, but it's been noted on this forum that CC may be up for redevelopment.

it's a shame, if true. best camera shops in HK. the "tomato" cafe in the basement hasn't changed since the 60s. it's great old-school HK, and has WGs too!

however, all of TST close to Nathan Road is primo territory. look at new malls like The One--rents may be outrageous but u can't even find a place to sit on weekends. of course u can always go to Canton Road, where u wait in line just to enter a shop and buy an overpriced handbag.

with these ridiculous rents, it makes sense that CC will be taken over, likely smashed to bits and a giant palace to the God of Mammon constructed in its place. but it's a long process, and perhaps it starts with strangling the WG trade there. so perhaps the LE are there to dissuade punters.

which means fewer "please wait" signs! if you've got yr eye on a CC gal, now might be the best time to check it out.

I would agree. I've had a similar experience as jobo a while back during my last visit, and just decided to walk. I can keep my LB under control long enough not to put myself under any personal risk, and if I feel uncomfortable, I'll just walk away.

As pleasurable as our pastime is, there is some risks, so just be careful!

Mirador Mansions had a landlord vote on the 22nd about selling to developers and now developers are cold calling to scam the property listing info out of the owners. I don't know if they voted or rejected the offer to sell or not. 690+ landlord/tenants in Mirador alone. Info gleaned from two posted notices by the elevators on Jan 15th and Jan 30th.

MM, CM and CC are all just too valuable to sit there and rent 200 HKD coffin rooms per night. The atriums at CM and MM - open, unused space over some of the most valuable real estate on this planet - could be two 50 to 120 storey office towers. That's a lot of lost potential rents.

These places won't last forever, so go and enjoy them while they still exist.
