Which bar in Wanchai streets to just chill out ?

I always feel like just sitting down, relax and chill with a beer after finishing a session with one of the bar girls in Wanchai at a nearby hotel.
Which bars in Wanchai streets do you bros recommend to have a quiet environment even on Fridays and Saturdays late nights ?
I know that you can't expect total silence considering the location and the time during a week, but I mean which ones are relatively quieter and with less people ?
Don't say transfer to somewhere outside Wanchai because I am looking for a place in that area.

Thanks!

Kinda depends on the atmosphere you are after.

There are plenty of "civvie" talking-bars in Wanchai like Mes Amis, Carnegies, devils's advocate, etc.  Or the few pubs (like Old China Hand and Queen Victoria)  that sorta hang "in-between".  WG's will hang there but lots of regular folk too.  I like these myself...  Watch some sports, watch the scene and chat to mates, and maybe spot a new hottie or two.

Amazonia in Wan Chai looks cool as its wide open and facing the street.

I like all these suggestions plus "The White Stag". English pub feel, sit inside at the bar or street side at a table. Sport on TV. Great for people watching and relaxing and yes... girl spotting... across the road from the Lockhart Rd entrance to Escape.

Trafalgur, where we went once, is not a bad bar for chilling with its veranda - though it's a bit chilly on these nights.
Carnegie's is not all that quiet on Friday nights when the music's playing and it's not easy to get a seat - unless you arrive early (about 9pm).
Amazonia on a late friday night - OMG... Great band playing acca dacca etc, but far from quiet.

Recently I visited The Pawn ( http://www.asiatatlerdining.com/ ... s-in-hong-kong.html )

It is pretty wonderful.  Very very close to Wanchai bar scene, but far enough away to be totally chill.  Pretty good selection of whisky, had my favs like Bowmore and Talisker.  Nice decor, good food, decent music, friendly staff.

Thanks guys for all your advice.
Will keep in mind next time when I chill out there.
BTW, do you guys consider Coyote also as an "in between" venue with both regular drinkers and WGs ?
Or is it more of a place to meet BGs ?

I would say coyote is just a normal bar, it can get busy on a night. Students like to go there for their cocktails etc as they are apparently very good!

I sometimes like to go to bars to chill out in, where you know you can have a conversation without having to shout or being pestered. Like bro wander said, Mes Amis is a good bar, also like bro scooter said, the Pawn is a really nice bar too!

I like Mes Amis as well. In Wan Chai it has great bar snacks, the one is TST has the same menu but food is crap.

I wouldn't go to Neptunes II unless you like smoke or are a smoker. One of the cons of Neptunes in my opinion is that the place is filled with smoke from smokers on most nights in my opinion. Amazonia is nice because you have a semi breeze from the outside. Escape is ok because the floorplan is not that bad. Central District is awesome if you just want to chill and not look for wgs

@scooter Been there many times and there was smoke everywhere unless they have enforced a no smoking policy within a week or 2. Just to be clear I am talking about Neptunes 2

Yeah there is another little hidden gem in Wan Chai with really good bar snacks.

It is called 'Splash' - just down from the Typhoon Bar.

There is a government no-smoking policy for indoors. But..some places are skirting the law at the wee hours because smoking is so desired by their customers.

The ones that knowingly skirt the laws are the ones that have 'delaying the inspectors obstacles'. Obstacles such as lifts, long stairwells, off the beaten path, door guys etc allow the establishments to squash all ciggies once their door guys alert the managers the inspectors are coming.

That is why Neptunes2 can get away with skirting the law.

that is a nice pub, the balcony is a great place to relax and enjoy a beer. If I'm not mistaken that's where you met the lovely Inga from Mongolia...

Splash started operating just prior just Laguna closing down in January last year. A good little bar but doesn't have much taLent. Good for chilling though. It was more lively when Laguna was around, given that it was just a couple of doors down from it.
I noticed guys smoking in Neptunes 2 last week when I went in (Saturday 5pm), but it wasn't a huge problem. Neptunes 3 is much worse.
109 allows smoking in the back area and even calls itself as such in advertising.
