iPad to iPad 2

Who has an existing iPad and is thinking of upgrading to the iPad 2? And to which color?
As I am stuck on the color to go for as well as if i should wait for the iPad 3 as on the net they say its going to be a lot more advanced than the 2.

There really isn't that many changes in the ipad2 to really warrant the switch from the ipad 1 unless you wanted to do face time and want white

The new processor is faster but as of right now there aren't many games that are taxing the ipad's processor right now and it will probably be a good 6 months - 1 year before games come out that will tax the system

I have an existing one, and don't plan to upgrade.

Camera would be nice to have, but not enough to justify the hassle of switching to a new device ... in many ways it's good have a good excuse for NOT being seen!!

I wouldn't upgrade.  They don't offer much more compared to the older version and therefore the cost isn't justified. The thinner pad also makes me think it's going to be more filmsy.  But if I had to choose a  color, I would pick the black one.  The white one get's dirty easier.  You do notice the fingerprints on the black one though, but just get something to wipe it off.

Just wait for iPad3 at the end of the year. It's going to have the iPhone 4 screen which is much better than the existing screen

http://www.appleinsider.com/arti ... 1_launch_rumor.html

Now sure how true the above link is......

This is what exactly i'm talking about. Should I trade in when it officially comes out in HK or wait for iPad 3. But by then, the iPad 1 is going to be worthless on the market.
Even if i trade it in now, the Mongkok phone centres are offering around HK$4000, but when it comes in officially, its going to drop again...... but if holding on till ipad 3, its again going to drop........ may as well keep it and use it as a photo picture frame.
Decisions, decisions, decisions
As it mentions on the link, the ipad 3 is not going to be a replacement, but an add on..... but it going to be HK$8000 for the top of the range model

Can i ask what people use their iPad for? I still can't see any practical use for it that is not already covered by laptop/eReader/phone/netbook.

If it's true the 3 is coming out I think I going to wait.  Was about to jump in until I read here about the 3.  The screen is a big thing.  Never hear anyone complain about the existing scree though.

if you already have laptop, eReader, phone, and netbook you don't need an ipad.  Just one more thing to carry.

But if you don't have them it's a better alternative to all the above except the phone.  And you can even use it as a phone at a pinch ...

easier to carry than laptop or netbook, and more versatile than ereader.

and as a fashion accessory it gets you much more street cred than anything with a keyboard does

ipad is so unnecessary . Just get the iphone 4.  If you have a laptop why do you need another big screen to carry around......Ok, but I really want one too.   Want and Need.....theres a difference

oh, puh-lease ...

1. Instantly on, instantly off.
2. 10 hour battery life.
Seriously, this one point alone justifies the whole thing ... I even used the full 10 hours on a number of occasions ... but let's complete the list ...
3. 3G data, only way to surf when moving
4. much more portable, looks and feels like a large diary
5. touch-screen: don't need a mouse or trackpad, saves space and more versatile
6. can use one-handed when moving or standing
8. THOUSANDS of apps, at free or give-away prices, compared to the cost of laptop software at M$ prices

and I didn't even have to use childish one-upmanship by resorting to "cool" ...

drink the Kool-Aid bro, it'll change your life!

Many people I know nowadays that would even consider an iPad already have a laptop and smartphone. So it can't be just about being better at one thing or another, it needs to be better to justify replacing one of those in frequent situations. Features are nice, but in the end, the real question is about how it fits into your life (if at all).

For example, I found that a netbook was a great replacement for a laptop when I did tourist type travel since it was easier to carry in a backpack and had full functionality when I needed it (getting some work done at the hotel). For eReaders, I think their best role is during commutes or other times when you're idle (waiting for an airplane). That being said, both are substantially cheaper than an iPad/tablet.

I have personally only found one good example where an iPad/tablet might give better functionality and that's using it as a fancy brochure during a sales pitch of some sort (the cool factor becomes a function at this point).

The comparison to being a big iPhone 4 is pretty good.  My sense is though until you experience the iPad you can't truly understaffed the diffrrrence between it and the iPhone.  One might say ok the 4 can be put in a pocket but what do you do with the iPad.  Somehow people are making due with yay question.
