Part time Hotels

Was coming to HK this April and would check the Wanchai bar scene.

Just wanted to know if we need to produce some documents like passport for booking the room for part time deed at Wanchai.

I generally dont carry any documents with me when I go our in HK.

No bro!

Just the cash & thats all. They do not ask for any ID - they may off the girls but all they care about is your cash.

By law?

I never carry my passport anywhere, pretty screwed if you lose it? I have booked short-time hotels a few times & I have never been asked for ID of any kind.

eh .. by law, you should carry your passport at all times !

There is no ordinance that stipulates visitors must carry ID around. They are strongly advised to as the police here have random stop and search powers and can demand ID without just cause.

The immigration ordinance only states that ID card holders over 15 must be able to produce their ID at all times so visitors, who don't hold HK ID cards are not mandated to do so.

However it is hard to prove you are not mandated to do so if requested unless you are carrying some ID that proves you are a visitor, such as a passport. Hence the recommendation for visitors to carry ID.

I've never been asked for my ID with one exception many many many years ago.  I just said I didn't know I had to bring one, they asked me where I am from, I say America and they said OK , have a great vacation!
