Pacsafe bags are generally nylon or some other synthetic fabric covering a stainless steel mesh that is woven throughout the bag.  The straps also have a stainless steel mesh that runs the entire length of the strap.

You can't use ordinary scissors or knives to cut them, which makes them safe to carry around the street as most things used to slit bags, ie knives or exacto blades, razors ... are ineffective against them.

I like to carry one around Macau as I sometimes carry chips from one casino to another, and you can lose a lot more that way than with physical cash if your bag is slashed.

Instead of a full-blown wallet, you might consider buying one of those two-fold business card holders (Tumi has some nice ones for 100 usd, or you can pick up a cheaper one practically anywhere for a few bucks).  It can hold the Octopus card on oneside (and you can tap the sensor without taking it out), the other fold you can keep a few bills folded up and a condom or two.  Very practical for short trips and without the bulk of a normal wallet.

I wouldn't carry a condom in my wallet.  The heat generated from your body damages the party hat and makes it less effective...

I wouldn't suggest you keep condoms in your wallet for long periods of time either.

I'm assuming here that you would be using it within a very short period of time, no more than a day or so max, and generally with a small wallet, you'd have it in your front pocket, not in the back.

Best to have enough cash, as it is not a good idea to withdraw cash from ATM machines near places you punt. Nowadays, the bank statement would show the location and time of withdrawal.

I usually just bring enough cash for 2 sessions of wherever I want to go just in case I'm feeling a bit hungry then normal.

I have a nice LV wallet but decided to bring a generic crappy one during my trip overseas which felt weird carrying around b/c it was pretty crappy!! Haha

Simple - buy a cheap Xanzhai fone in China to carry around.

My fake Nokia E66 cost me RMB 280, is dual sim card and been working GREAT for at least a year!

And as a further precaution/for economy - I load this phone with 1 China sim card for all my mongering activities there and another one with dual Hong Kong/China functions, onto which I'd divert my regular Hong Kong number to.  This way I'd never worry about losing my main Hong Kong telephone AND data therein, PLUS I save a lot of $$ in roaming charges.

I also just carry this Nokia when I'm out mongering in HongKong and elsewhere.

Edit - Ps. the only problem is that my SMS messages don't get diverted - and I've gotten into a pickle when somebody sends me an SMS and I of course didn't get it. Oh well!!

Get a Nokia C1 or C2.  Dual Sim, the C1 is Dual Standby, while the C2 is Dual Active.  The C2 is better of course.

Both phones are 35-50 odd US, cheap, durable, and comes with a flashlight for the darkest of times =)

thanks for the information, was thinking about buying those China made phones but worried about the battery blowing up. But Nokia C2 sounds definitely good.

Bros in HK who are foreigners, when you get your ID, they gave you a piece of paper that was temporary. Use that, I still use it to date even though mine expired in April. I don't get hassled by the police even though it clearly says use only until April XX, 2010. I've been stopped a few times around LKF at night with it-
