Interesting about the BlackPad. After reading some websites, It looks like it going after business market.

I'm think about getting two or three of these new PADS as XMAS gifts. I don't know which one to get yet. The PADS are for kids that are under 12.  I counted out the Apple's IPAD because of the high price, specs and lacking a few functions.

It seems like the majority have their faults. The second generation will be better for all manufactures. Apple's second generation is rumor to be out sooner, Feb2011, because of competition.

I have found this blog/website which for us HKers is quite interesting and will probably cover a lot of this newcoming/copy/creation/cheap tech
http://www.shanzai.com/

They have some reviews on Pads running Androoid...

shanzhai or Shan Zai] literally means "Mountain Bandit or Fortress" in Mandarin Chinese. It is a phenomenon that goes far beyond the simplistic view of “copycat products” and in popular Chinese cultural usage is used to describe a vendor who operates a business without observing traditional rules or practices -- often resulting in innovative and unusual products or business models. Reading the stories on this website will open your eyes to a whole new business phenomenon that is affecting all of our lives whether we realize it or not.

Shanzai.com tracks the products, trends and reach of China's local to global tech culture. Shanzai.com’s writing team is led by its editor-in-chief “Tai-Pan” or Timothy James Brown an IT executive working in Asia for the past 13 years.

I won a Sony Dash in a casino drawing tonight. When I inquired, what exactly was a Sony Dash, they said, "it's like an iPad, but cheaper". This casino knows everything about cheap. If they ponied up the extra $40 or so for the iPad, they would have gotten more business for the drawing.

Anyway, other than the review I just read (which described it as a $200 alarm clock ), any geeks out there that can tell me more?

Speaking of clones, is there any place to buy these clones around Hong Kong? How about mongkok? I already own an IPad but it doesn't hurt to get some additional gadgets for entertainment value. Especially if they have some clones running on win7, I can integrate them with my windows media center at home.

what makes them awesome are the apps actually. hardware wise, apple competitors are much better, its the software and development environment that apple really shines.
