Anyone runners here ever tried running across HK

I've been playing with the usatf looking for some cool runs and decided to see how bad it would be to run across Hong Kong. I was shocked at how
tiny that place really is. Because the train ride to SZ seems to take forever.

Anyways, It's about 26 mile in a direct line so you add about 5 miles to that due to curved roads and stuff. Basically start at the SZ border train station and run to the edge of Stanley Bay. The only draw back would be getting ran over I guess. Macau is too easy but I've been eying Taiwan too (won't be a single run of course).

You'd be breathing in a hell of a lot of pollution if you run through HK. You'd be better off doing your heavy breathing in a nice air conditioned hotel room with a young WG or two.

Maybe you can make it like a triathlon? You can swim from HK to Kowloon. Then you run from Kowloon to NT. When you get to NT, you bike to Macau =P

That way you can punt in HK, China, and Macau =D

If you enjoy running, forget HK. It's not conducive to runners with the crowded streets, pollution and traffic. I've know a couple of friends that have run the Great Wall or along its length. It was challenging but you'll need sponsors and extensive planning for that. They tell me it was well worth the effort.

it is not easy to run through HK, since the narbour between and no bridge, unless you set it at the same time as standard chartered run every year, then you can through the western tunnel

I'll be using a taxi first to make sure the routes are good. If taking the MTR is must to get across bodies of water or impossible terrain then so be it. No way am I swimming across anything. I don't want one of your punting condoms ending up with my mouth while swimming. I'm assuming pollution is equally as bad as Shanghai. I trained a lot in SH so pollution shouldn't be an issue. It's going to take some planning no doubt. My biggest fear will be cars. It's going to be a night run because I'm planned to go to China in mid April of 2011 and it will be too hot to run that distance during the day. It will be less than a month after my LA Marathon so I'll have a good idea if I can complete the HK run.

My Ipod Nano takes pretty nice videos so I'll be documenting the run if it happens. I posted here hoping someone would join me in April. If anyone wants to try it with me feel free to PM. No punting until after the run though, unless there is an alley girl and you can finish quickly (are there ally girls outside of SZ?). It will be fun. Surprisingly, even after numerous punts in Macau, my most memorable time there was running from the Cotai strip to my hotel room at the GD hotel in a light rain and lighting up a Montecristo #2 after.

Stay off the streets.  HK has spectacular hiking trails.  If you want to run a marathon across HK, use the trails.  Or, if you're a real man, run the 100 km Trailwalker...

Have fun, CGP

Star Ferry, no need to stop: he can do laps around the funnel in the middle of the top deck!

I asked this a while back
http://forum.sex141.com/eforum/viewthread.php?tid=18775

There is the HK marathon in feb, not too pricey to run.  Whats making me reluctant is the pollution & the humidity.  Also its rather far plane ride from usa.
