Girls developing breasts by age 7 - US study

No mention of asian girls in this study. I wonder what sort of result they would have gotten if it had been initiated in Asia.

MORE US girls are starting puberty younger, with large percentages developing breasts and pubic hair as early as seven, according to a new study.
Nearly a quarter of black girls (23.4 per cent), 14.9 per cent of Hispanic girls and 10.4 per cent of white girls develop breasts by the age of seven, the study of 1239 girls in Harlem, Cincinnati and the San Francisco area found.
Twenty per cent of seven-year-old black girls had pubic hair, as did around 6.5 per cent of white and Hispanic girls, the study, published in the American journal Pediatrics, found.
The figures are a big jump compared with a similar study published in 1997. Back then, only five per cent of seven-year-old white girls and around 15 per cent of black girls of the same age were developing breasts.
Negative impacts associated with early puberty in girls include increased risk of breast or endometrial cancer later in life, and psychological troubles ranging from low self-esteem and eating problems to depression and suicide.
Just what causes puberty to start is not fully understood, and the researchers plan to pool data collected for the study to try to determine if there are associations between puberty onset and factors such as diet or exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals.
The study, led by Frank Biro of the Cincinnati Children's Hospital's adolescent medicine division, also said girls who hit puberty young are "more likely to be influenced by deviant peers" and become sexually active earlier.
The study found that at age eight, more than four in 10 black girls (42.9 per cent) were developing breasts and nearly a third had pubic hair.
Nearly 31 per cent of Hispanic girls and 18 per cent of white girls were developing breasts at the age of eight, and 19 and 10 per cent respectively had pubic hair.

Essentially, it's all the chemicals and hormones allowed in the US diet which is causing this. Earlier onset of puberty, and it's no accident we have the highest cancer rates of any industrialized country (hell, almost any country).

And just who is this Frank Biro weirdo going around examining 7 and 8 year-olds for pubic hair and breasts in the name of science?  And how does he know that they are more likely to be sexually active?

Have fun, CGP

I grew up for several years in the inner city of a large Midwest USA city. My brother and I were the two white kids in a predominately AA neighborhood. I remember the black kids, at 10-11, playing "hide and go get it". The girls, who were clearly sprouting by then, would hide,. and the boys would...well, you know.

Never got invited to that deal for some reason .

makes a lot of sense, if you've seen some of michael moore's documentaries (even though the guy is hypocritic fat white american)
But the poorer races are exposed to the most fast food which has the worst food bulked up by hormones.
Dude, I was just thinking about the roasted chicken sandwich in Subway, apparently even that is the same processed stuff as mcdonalds chicken mcnuggets. So even subway ain't the healthiest option (they certainly don't show "hormones" in their nutritional value sheet)

Who sells America's unhealthiest fast foods?
        ▪        Men's Health lists unhealthiest meals
        ▪        Triple Baconator not the worst
        ▪        Tuna Melt tops 1600 calories
THE Top 10 fast-food restaurants in the US boast entrees loaded with stomach-stuffing, artery-clogging saturated fat, sodium and calories, according to a study by Men's Health magazine.
"Fast food requires fast decisions, and we wanted to create a guide to help people lose weight while still eating fast food," said David Zinczenko, author of the book series Eat This! Not That! and editor-in-chief of the magazine that conducted the study.
Topping the list as the worst of the worst was the Tuna Melt sandwich combo from Quiznos.
The value meal, which comes with a bag of Cheetos, tops out at an astonishing 1900 calories - the equivalent of eating an entire bag of Chips Ahoy! cookies and near the average person's daily caloric intake, the study noted.
Second on the list was the Triple Baconator Value Meal from Wendy's.
The sandwich, which has three hamburger patties, three slices of cheese and nine strips of bacon, packs a 1850-calorie punch when paired with a small Coke and fries.
Other offenders include the large Triple Whopper with Cheese Value Meal, which weighs in at nearly 1800 calories and the Big Breakfast Platter from McDonald's, which contains 1370 calories and nearly 65 grams of fat.
The good news, the study suggested, is that you do not have to stop eating fast food altogether - you just have to make smarter choices.
"Once people have an understanding of the caloric calamities out there, they can make better choices and still have burgers," Mr Zinczenko said.
Mr Zinczenko recommended an Egg McMuffin and hash browns, which tally only 450 calories and 21 grams of fat.
