california fitnesss... how much are u guys paying??

hey boys.. just a quick one .
i wanna know how much u guys paying for ur california fitness membership and please state ur level of membership..
even if ur not on cali i wanna know other gym's prices as well
right now i was on a year contract with cali gold member which means one club only! but luckily for me the TST branch has been renovated and got bumped up to platinum.. which means can accesss all clubs till they finish the new club in TST on july.. which is my contract expiry date.
been paying 368 every month which i guess is not bad right?? actually they started with 1688 but with some bargaining got it to that price point.. wow gyms are really a scam! had to tell them my friend is paying a lower price to get the bargain.. so now i wanna know if you guys had another promotion deal or maybe are paying a lower price than mine.. please tell me so i can tell them to extend my membership only if there's a goood deal !
thx!

In the US, you can get a deal at Costco and Costco.com, where you can purchase a two-year 24-Hour Fitness membership for $299US (~ $2300HK).  About $100HK per month.  That will give you access to all 24 Hour Fitness Locations in the USA, as well as all California Fitness locations.  California Fitness is a wholly owned subsidiary of 24 Hour Fitness.

Think you calculated the exchange wrongly. Your gym works out to be HK$194.35 a month, not HK$100.

no, my math is fine.  ~$2300HK for 24 months comes out to around $100HK per month.

I don't know if you got a good deal or not as I don't belong to a gym anymore since at least 3 years ago.  At my age, I learned it is not the buff body that gets the girls, but charm, confidence, and conversational skills.  So as long as I don't get fat and keep up my cardio with just plain walking outside, I am good to go.

The one in Shanghai on Hua Hai Lu didn't even bother to Scan my 24 hour fitness card. I just showed them my ID and and membership card. They might have typed in some data to check though.

I think you've misread his post, he mentions a 2 year membership and you've worked it out on 12 months.

i have a 24hr gym membership, which i paid around $600 or $700 for the first 3 years. Then every year after that is only $29. You can't beat $29 a year for gym membership.

I too have the same deal. You can't beat it. When I stay for long periods of time in HK I use my 24 hr membership at California Fitness. Too bad they don't stay open late as I prefer to workout in the late hours when there is less people.

California Fitness is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the parent company, 24 Hour Fitness, which is based in the US.  24 Hour Fitness is a club that has 370 locations throughout the US, with locations such as California Fitness as well located in Asia.  So your membership to 24 Hour Fitness will work for California Fitness and vice versa.

As far as getting the great deal on the membership goes, here's how it works, for people in the US.  My guess is that if you're smart enough you should figure out how to beat the system.

1) Go to Costco.com and purchase the 2 year membership for $299US.
2) Costco will send you a packet, which you go into a 24 Hour Fitness location to redeem and register.
3) You receive your membership card in a week (you'll get a temporary one in the meantime)
4) Voila, you're done.

2) is the tricky part.  I just checked with one of the geniuses in customer service at 24 Hour Fitness and she wasn't sure whether you could redeem the packet at a Califonia Fitness or not.  But if you can, you're home free, since I'm certain that you can use the 24 Hour Fitness card at California Fitness - I went to the one in Mongkok a lot last year.  If you can't redeem, find someone in the US who can do it for you, then send you the card.

there's three 24 hour fitness within 10 miles of my house that's open 24/7, so i can work out anytime i want. there's only 1 california fitness in my location. i don't think you can use 24 hour fitness membership to get into california fitness or california fitness membership for 24 hour fitness. i haven't tried but i look around online and it didn't mention anything about it, best way to find out is to give them a call.

California Fitness only exists in Asia and 24 Hour Fitness only exists in the US.  You might be mistaking California Fitness with California Family Fitness, which is a different company that has locations throughout the Sacramento area.

if you go to the 24 Hour Fitness finder page, the International Clubs listed are all California Fitness locations:
