As I was watching the final on the English commentary version of Cable TV, I found it funny every time I heard the commentator calling out Spanish Gerard Pique's name.  Because every time he says 'PK' (Pique's name as pronounced by the commentator) does that and this and so on, it is like listening to the conversations some of the HK minibus drivers have with each other, ie , "xxxx 'diu' xxxx, xxx 'diu' xxx", whereby there is at least one profanity in each sentence.  

The commentators did a good job of talking over all the horns. Wonder whether the horn thing will catch on in other sports.  Some the young kids are using the horns at their own events.

I sure as heck hope not. It really was annoying hearing that constant hum on TV, don't know how I'd react if it was live.

That kick made headlines on digg as "Falcon Kick" ... as the WC itself, plenty of referee boo boos, France was so disappointing.

Paul, the psychic octopus who predicted World Cup matches with uncanny accuracy, is now an iPhone application.
The Brazilian software developer behind the program, uTouchLabs, describes it as a "fun way to randomly choose between two options."
"Cinema or theatre? Pizza or sushi? Skirt of dress? Marcia or Andrea? Ask the Octopus?" it says.

The user types in the options and a cartoon octopus chooses between them.
The program costs 99 US cents ($A1.12) to download from Apple's iTunes.
Paul, an octopus at an aquarium in Oberhausen, Germany, earned worldwide attention during the World Cup with his predictions, which included Spain's victory in the final against the Netherlands.

It's a stupid application but the guy who started the 99 cents store concept said that he was very successful because people bought things they did not need because it was only 99 cents.  All business at the end of the day is the same. And the iPhone store is no different that what this guy thought of decades ago.
