Recently there have been lots of roadblocks set up in the cities to spot for DUI. Should you ever get held up in one of these roadblocks or in a routine inspection in a SN/KTV you may be asked for your ID. If you don't have it on you the LE would demand that you go get it. If your passport shows only limited access to certain cities then you would fined a nominal amount of RMB500 but then it's really not worth the hassle of getting held up several hours in the first place.
