I like the HK$200 lunch at Sushi Qube. Its worth every cent despite the seemingly high price.

It's in LKF. It mimics the top sushi places in Japan. The whole restaurant has only ten seats around the counter. A Japanese speaking chef will make you sushis in front of you in real time.

The lunch menu also has $300 and $500 lunch if you thinking $200 is too reasonable for you.

A tip is NOT to try the mango stuff, ie.

the black/white mix thing (lit. translation) - sesame and coconut sorbet with jelly and mixed fruit - have had this at least 40 times

tarot and red bean soup - gorgeous!

Saw a few comments about sushi.

In my opinion, Sushi Hiro is the best sushi joint in Hong Kong.  It's a bit on the pricey side ~$500 but the sushi is very fresh and taste great.
I think there are 2 shops -- one is causewaybay and one in tsim sha tsui.
I don't recommend ordering the set menus.  Just sit at the bar and order from chef's recommendation.

Also, you can of course check out www.openrice.com for some more good food recommendations. They have the website in english now. There are many HK food blogs and sites out there but I find openrice to be the most reliable in terms of many honest comments and feedback.

Damn... $500 for sushi...  in NYC you can have 3 people eat for the same amount of money, and the tuna is probably fresher since it's caught in the North East.  85% of the best tuna caught here is sent to Japan annually.

I think there are 2  ...

I have been to the TST Sushi Hiro. I agree it is one of the best HK-style sushi places. Another being Oedo in North Point.

But it is not comparable to a Japanese style sushi place like Sushi Qube.

Hmm... this one has plenty bad reviews at openrice

I heard that it was opened by Daniel Wu the movie star.

Hey ymc, could you maybe give a short review/comparison on your take of Qube vs. Oedo?

Yeah it is.  But it brings back good memories from my trip with my mom and brother 10 years ago.  I'm just a sentimental fool

Oedo is even better value than Sushi Hiro. It doesn't have Sushi Hiro's fancy set dinners. But IMHO, quality of the dishes are just as good but cheaper. The cost saving might come from being located in North Point.

As to Sushi Qube, I think I have written a brief overview earlier in this thread already.

Sushi Hiro is awesome.  I always go there whenever I am back in HK.

Ding Tai Fung, is another place that I frequent when I go.  Its taiwanese food but its great.

For a simple bowl of wonton noodles or some congee, I like to head to IFC and go to tasty's.  A bit more expensive but its quite good.

Since cn888 mentioned wonton noodles -- You may have heard the buzz about Mak's Noodles. Well in my opinion, I think Mak's is overpriced and not that great, plus small portions.  I remember a friend telling me not to buy any drinks inside Mak's because it's like 20 bucks for a coke. He told me to finish up and go opposite the road to buy drinks at 7-11 haha. I think Tsim Chai Kee opposite Mak's noodles in Central seem to have better value.
Plus, I can't taste much of a difference for the wonton noodles haha. Is the essence in the soup/MSG or something? lol

This might be to ghetto for you bros but some of the best Indian food I ever had in my life was in Chung King mansions in TST. Don't let the decor fool you! The food is amazing!

You need to make your way past the touts that will try to bring you into their overpriced restaurants and make your way to the 3rd floor (I think?) and just pick a spot where all the other Indians are sitting.

Yeah I've heard good things about how authentic the indian food in Chung King is.
cn888 -- I've been to the Din Tai Fung here and in Taiwan. I feel that the one in HK isn't as great, and I would prefer the Crystal Jade chain of restaurants instead. The menu for HK Din Tai Fung seemed to have less choices than Taiwan.
