PALM is in a bit of a deep shit aren't they -- their supposedly huge come back with the PALM PRE didn't seem to fair too well in the US.  I thought Lenovo might have had a better shot in utilizing Palm for increasing their weak US market exposure, but that didn't happen as they're not buying it.

Before Steve Jobs returned to his rightful place there were many blundering CEOs, Gil Amelio was the last one. He was kicked out when Apple suffered huge financial losses and record low stock prices. Now, Apple has never looked back.

Here's another little factoid: Apple doesn't do focus groups.  None.  Nada.  Tells you something about how inspired their designs really are.

I didn't do it.  Really I didn't.

I am going to be in HK next month. I have a few Apple iPads for sale. I hear they are selling for outrageous prices. Does any one know anyone who wants to buy one? Or where I should go to sell them be ...

You might have some competition or you made a profit. It's 800 to 850 USD in HK or 950 USD in China. I played around with it and there was a demo by a salesman at the Apple Store. It is very nice. It's extremely large suped up cell phone. Heard they might have a camera / video and merge some computer application to the Ipad in later models. It be a combination cell, tablet, netbook and computer.  Some other manufacture will have their own by Christmas for competition..

================================================================
Hong Kong, China (CNN) -- The iPad may have exclusively launched in the United States on Saturday, but by Monday hundreds were available in the stores of Hong Kong -- thanks to the city's laissez faire retail laws and the work of traders such as Ronald Leung.

On Saturday, Leung and dozens of his friends stood in line at Apple stores around the San Francisco area. "We were limited to buy only two apiece," he said on Wednesday, toting a suitcase filled with iPads fresh off a plane from San Francisco and ready for resale on the streets of Hong Kong.

All told, he and his friends brought back about 200 iPads for sale in Hong Kong, where stores were selling them for as much as 60 percent higher than their $499 retail price.

Among those flocking to Hong Kong to own the iPad are mainland Chinese customers, said Alex Tang, who resells iPad for eSatto. Some mainland Chinese bought in iPads in bulk from the reseller to resell yet again in China for a higher price.

"One trader bought 20 from me for HK$6,500 (US$837) and planned to resell in China for RMB6,500 (US$952), using the exchange rate to make a profit," he said.

Inside an hour a CNN reporter found seven stores selling iPads in stores on the crowded streets of Mongkok, one of the most densely populated areas in the world

i hate buying electronics because i always try to get my moneys worth so i do quite a lot of research before i buy it. mainly because electronics are constantly upgrading and its hard to keep up. i really wanted this ipad, but i have a iphone and its seem that i get much more out of my iphone then i will if i buy an ipad. if i buy the ipad then i will have to carry both my phone and the ipad. i was looking into buying another laptop because i can play starcraft 2 when it comes but i really wanted something to bring to work and the ipad is just slim enough to carry around but my work place doesnt have wifi. so i would have to pay for both my internet for iphone and ipad seems like a waste of money. at this rate ill never make a decision ahahaha. now if the ipad had a camera/video recorder and act as a phone then that would be great, problem solved.

Big mistake choosing someone from marketing to run the place.  Just like when Apple kicked out Steve Jobs and replaced him with that marketing guru . . . what the hell was that guy's name?

John Sculley, purveyor of sweetened water (he came from Pepsi) and a cold fish
with no passion for his new product or any proper understanding of the mindset
of his monomaniacal customers.

You've gotta hand it to Jobs, even if he is the second coming of Stalin, he's got
the true marketing genius of someone who really believes his products are
"insanely great" and is able to convince others of that.

It doesn't hurt that he has the vision to take existing technologies and wrap
them in packages that win awards for design, appealing to the post-PC
generation.

When the history of this era is written, it wouldn't surprise me if Jobs is
acknowledged as the Marketer of the Century (1950-2050).

while Jobs was there the first time, John Sculley came on board.  This after Jobs gave his famous line to John - "would you rather be selling soft drinks or making history?".  After Sculley left, Gil Amelio joined the company.  Gil is actually a great guy and one of the smartest technical people you'll ever meet, a billion times more technically knowledgeable than Jobs, but probably a bit too East Coast-ish in style and thinking and not very inspirational and that did him in at Apple. I used to dotted-line report to him and he's the only CEO that I ever knew who was smarter than any hardware engineer in the room - you couldn't pull the wool over Gil's eyes on any technical meeting since he was the holder of over 50 engineer patents himself alone.

IPAD hacked into email

It looks like the FBI is looking at the issue of IPAD being hacked.

An AT&T Web site could be tricked into revealing an iPad owner's e-mail address when supplied with a code associated with their particular iPad. A hacker group that calls itself Goatse Security said it got the site to cough up more than 114,000 e-mail addresses by guessing which codes would be valid.

He is like Ray Kroc of McDonalds.  Both guys have a formula and then figure out how to buiild on it.  Kroc started with a flagship store then sold franchises off it, then came up with mcmuffin, big mac, ronald mcdonald, fish filet and so on.  the hula burger did not work.  each guys has tried things, alot owrked and those you remember and those that did not yo forget.  Apple has had plenty off lemons.  Difference between Kroc and Jobs is that Jobs started apple where Kroc saw the orignal mocdonald brothers and took their concept global.  they walked away with a few million but really have nothing to do with the company's success other than the basic idea.  Key is to create the platform and formula then you can build on it.  Great job by jobs.

Rumours to be 19th July 2010. Pricing to be very similar to US prices.

There is still a shortage of supply and there are no shipping dates on the HK Apple website. Apple never envisioned they will sell that many iPads and rather focused on production of the new iPhone.

I'm not sure I buy the fact they under estimated demand. Apple is notorious for being conservative with their numbers. By keeping the supply lower, they feed into the demand cycle and give the appearance of a must have product.

i agree with buying an ipad trying to get its money worth, i never seem to use all the functionality to benefit the amount of money i pay for electronics.

Where does apple make it's products. are they out of capacity on the production linesor does apple only want to stock what it can sell right away.   If it is a beanie baby strategy then that would explain it
