Bespoke Tailors in HK/Macau/China

Hi All,

I went through the Guidelines and I'm still unsure if I'm allowed to post off-topics here. Apologies if I'm not allowed, I tried to go about the right way and check before posting (please refer to appropriate thread if I'm wrong).

Anyway, I'm interested in purchasing a tailored suit and I hear so many good (as well as horror) stories and whether HK or China is ideal.

I'd like a decent, 'value for money' tailor ...probably around the $500-$1000 US mark is my average price for a suit?
Has anyone had experience with good tailors they can recommend and perhaps give more detail on what they like? Style, material, personal preferences etc.
Additionally, what are the normal timeframes to get a suit made? I've been recommended to visit the tailors about 3 times to make sure measurements and fittings are good, which I will comply.

Thanks

This will probably be moved to the Chat section.

As for a tailor, you might want to read through the following thread that was recently brought up:

hey just a tip, u should try using the search function for an answer to your question before posting a new thread. this is especially true in this case since there was a "tailoring" thread posted just a week ago. some of the more senior bros get tired of seeing the same questions posted over and over again.

I've never purchased a tailor made suit in HK or China but my suggestion is don't let them know how much you're willing to pay and then bargain down.  Your price range of 500-1000 US seems alittle high when you can get Hugo Boss and Paul Smith suits for that price range.

I just realised that now bcause I only searched for 'bespoke' with no results, only keyword on my mind at the time. But the only consolation I could make is that it's open to Macau and China areas as well as per Subject.
and after seeing the other thread, I guess it should be moved to Chat.

I've been making suits from New Kingston Fashions since many years. They visit me in the UK. But since I travel to HK every now and then, I just give them a call and they come over to my hotel to take my measurements and show me their latest fabric samples. You could go to their office if you're more comfortable with that.

This is their website: http://www.newkingstonfashion.com

Good luck!

I've asked about this in the past, most on the board seems to not use tailors.  I was semi thinking of getting a suit myself.  I was thinking of looking one up for clothing repairs.  Are all over the place in Hong Kong, they all do a good job given the exchange rate for American dollars are relatively good values.

Yah I've made a suit once in Shen Zhen, it was a horrible experience!

When I went to collect my suit firstly the material was of a blue colour, when I had in fact chosen black. Next the jacket was huge, I think they bloody gave me a suit that was already ready! After that experience I never made a suit from there and just continued on with New Kingston Fashions.

So the choice is yours!

Don't waste the time and money to make a suit in SZ. A decent suit make you professional and earn respect from others.

There's a Tailor "JJ" or something like that in this Girls Mall in Mong Kok; exit D I believe? 3/F and open after 1PM or something like that. The suit was 1500HKD for the suit and 2 shirts. Honestly, I prefer my suits I got from G2000 Black Label; the 40% discount makes it even better.
