If I am walking on the streets in HK, I can more than 90% of the time make out which Chinese girl / woman is able to speak good english. Guess some women have it written on their faces ? What do you guys think?

Also, English is taught in the school curriculum in HK, so if you can find them in HK, I'm not that impressed since you are picking from a pool that should have decent English exposure already. Now if you go to China to a city like Chengdu and can spot girls that can speak decent English with the same high percentage, I'd be more impressed! Also would depend on where you are asking these girls. For example, if I was in Central at a lunch time. I could just pick the first 10 girls that passed me and I suspect 9/10 would be able to speak decent English and understand everything I was talking about. For example, here in the Philippines, I can tell a local chinese person, versus a mainland chinese person... mostly by their body language (mainland chinese people have a more awkward slouch, and they waddle a bit when they walk) and by how they dress (each location has their own current fashion trend) Most of these things are subtle, but if you take the time to compare and contrast, it's usually there... Most of the time, your subconscious picks up on these things without you being aware of it... Which makes you "guess" correctly more often. I suppose in HK, you're just differentiating if they're locally from HK, or newly from the mainland... where HK girls would usually know english, and mainlanders usually wouldn't.

A slightly better observation would be like in the US - which ones are foreign-born as opposed to ABCs.  That's actually pretty easy as well.
