Yeah like Asia-play says, we're all entitled to our own opinions. If something is said here that brings bad memories just ignore it or at worse, tell us. I'm sure everyone will be sympathetic (well, most of us )

Though it is best to keep your hobby to yourself, it can be advantageous at times if you can share your hobby with either colleagues or business associates.  I was fortunately when I was young to be invited to go out to the ktvs every night with some important colleagues and clients.  Nothing really happened at the kts, but eventually in time (after I earned their trust - I was the only single guy there), someone took a ktv girl home or me, etc.  

Going to saunas and kts with colleagues and clients is a form of male-bonding that really mutually exposes each other to potential fallout and risks.  I tell on someone, and that someone can tell on me.  MAD (mutual assured destruction) = old nuclear war terminology.  So with these really strong bonds, good business deals can be made.  

In the work environment, I recommend you go out with your male colleagues for some rowdy happy hours.  Eventually a senior manager or boss will come to the conclusion you may be really fun and invite you to join some of the boys for some extra fun during a biz trip or ostensibly out of the office business meeting.  Meetings in ktvs or saunas are normal in asia.   In this scenario, the risk is on your superior.

Now if you are the boss, you decide to share or not only after studying your staff for a very long time.  Being the boss is lonely.  You would most likely roam on your own to avoid any hassles.

One thing I like to add to this thread is that from personal experience in the few years that I stayed here, there are more mongers in HK then you might expect.  If the guy is not a prude, my experience tells me that he mostly likely hobbied once in his life..though he might not admit it at first.  Asia expecially HK makes mongering so easy and accessible that its hard to belive a straight guy did not fall into the tempation at least once..

A different way at looking at this issue, is that most guys are curious about the trade after watching the movies, magazines, or the signboards.  But not that many try their luck because they are too shy, cant speak or read Chinese, afraid of getting spotted by a relative, are afraid of being stopped by the police, afraid of dirty buildings, or are afraid of the triads (who manage most of these places).  

So really it is up to us to in our lifetime to at least introduce one buddy to the experience so they can get it out of their system and go on with life.  I was introduced by a coworker and introduced some friends to 141s years ago, and one turned out to become like that famous NBA star who said he fucked hundreds of girls!

I have an old friend whom I went to school together with (an all boys' school, which may explain a lot) and we have known each other for decades (there, I dated myself).  It was only during the last year that we found out from each other that we had both been punting!  Now we have more reasons to get together than just the occasional beer or meal.  We go on punting trips together, review our action, discuss our punting habit in perspective of our lives, families etc.  It was wierd to find out after so many years.

So far all initiatives in this area have come from the other party, including my boss. I never knew he was into it until one day he asked me if I could fix up a client and when I said I had the right contacts he asked me for a budget for all three of us to go and get laid and it's been great fun ever since! Other friends have also started the same way, usually with fixing up someone from overseas. Apart from my boss, I've never been out for such activities with other colleagues and he's told me not to reveal such things to other staff. I never initiate such conversations with strangers. You never know in this town who knows who and I had a couple of close calls when looking for a walk-up address and I bumped into friends of my wife!
