i see no issue with that, by using bootcamp you can switch to either OS that suits your needs, which i think is fair enough... plus can install any windows OS you want, but anyways i didn't recommend the macbook :S ?

i just meant that slagging the macbook air isn't completely fair as laptops/netbooks are more about personal preference based on usage.  i'm personally against bootcamp and parallels b/c of the limited resources, i.e. RAM, mem, etc. that comes w/ using a laptop/macbook.  i recognise the benefits, but i see the partition as a further waste of resources, not to mention not cost effective (assuming you don't acquire fake software) b/c you need to acquire licenses and such for all the windows OS software, including antivirus.  it just doesn't make sense to me in the long-run considering the practical lifespan of the computer.

i thought most netbooks will not be able to support windows 7

not literally but the process of uninstalling XP/Vista and installing windows 7 is appprently extremely gruesome and not worth it? Howd u ...

nah the process is quite simple...just pop windows 7 cd in cd drive and let it do the work no hassle...the only thing that i can see causing hickup's is the upgrade path that microsoft has defined for windows 7,

win xp -> win 7 requires the full version cd, upgrade cd will not work

vista -> win 7 any windows 7 cd will work (upgrade or full version)

if anybody wants to get more power and can shell out a few more bucks i'd suggest looking at the dell outlet for a E4300 you can get a decent speced one for 700 and it will run most games without too much of a hickup

http://outlet.us.dell.com/ARBOnl ... &l=en&s=dfb

and if your patient there are even times when you can get 20% coupon off the outlet store and walk away with with a decent small laptop for under 500 bucks.

Windows 7 clean installation on a netbook roughly takes 20 to 30 minutes. Works like a charm.

Microsoft corporate accounts will start to get the final RTM version this Friday.

i have an Asus Eee 901, go for the 1.6ghsz atom proessor one. I think the newest Asus is pretty nice because it's the slimmer, sleeker version, and you can rotate the screen around for it to become a touchscreen! really cool netbook in general, and first of its kind i think

Just to say, I own the acer aspire one I recommended, and have installed and played games such as halo etc and, with low graphics settings, its perfectly playable. I've ordered a laptop/small handheld trackball for it also - looks like the second controller on a nintendo wii. I wanted to be able to play games like halo, using keyboard for movement, and handheld trackball to look around/fire.

Definitely better laptops/netbooks out there, but when I looked a few months ago I couldn't see anything cheaper that was usable on a regular basis. The 6 hours+ battery life with a 9 cell battery was a massive selling point to me also.

(keyboard is a bit of a pain but you get used to it being smaller).

Excellent keyboard size and 8.5 hours with wifi and surfing.
