I decided to walk around the neighborhood in hopes of stumbling upon something decent. After about 20 minutes of walking up and down the street, peeking into every shop, I nearly gave up. But then, I noticed a small massage shop with a man casually playing with his phone behind a counter. My curiosity piqued when I saw a set of stairs behind him with pink lighting leading upstairs – this could be it!

I translated the shop sign and didnt undertsand the translation. It didnt mention Spa nor massage but I figured I’d take the chance. The shop itself wasn’t fancy, and honestly, it didn’t look very clean, which made me a bit nervous. But at that point, I figured, why not? I asked the man(with my limited chinese) if they offered massages, and he seemed a bit skeptical, asking what type I was looking for. I followed up by asking what types of massages they had, and he responded in a way that I couldn’t fully comprehend. Eventually, I asked about the pricing, and he said the regular massage was 60 RMB, while the "spa" option was 200 RMB.

I decided to go for the spa, figuring it may be what i was looking for. He pointed me toward the change rooms and told me to lock my clothes in a locker and wear the spa attire. As I entered the change room, I was greeted by the sight of a man taking a bath – which made me question if I'd walked into a public bathhouse instead. But I didn’t want to back out now, so I awkwardly changed, then told the man that I just wanted a regular massage, not the spa. He seemed understanding and told me to head upstairs.

By now, I was filled with regret and doubt, wondering what I had gotten myself into. When I reached the second floor, I was faced with a room full of older men smoking, all staring at me as if I had walked into the wrong place. My anxiety spiked. The man pointed to the back of the room, and I followed, hoping this wouldn’t get worse.

In the back, I saw a group of women, presumably the massage staff sitting and chatting. One of them stood up, motioned for me to follow, and took me through a small corridor to a private massage room. It was then that I realized maybe this was actually the massage experience I had been looking for.

We entered the room and she told me to lay on the bed. she sat down and put my legs up onto her thighs and started thumping them with her fists and asked what kind of massage do i want?  I asked what they offered. She rattled off a list, and, not understanding a word, I politely stopped her to say I didn’t speak Chinese.

She paused, looked at me, and then realizing I wasn’t the Chinese-speaking customer she assumed(im asian but not chinese) proceeded to give me a very visual breakdown of the services. 200 RMB? She gestured a blowjob. 300 RMB? She made the international sign with her finger going into a circle
