For a non-Chinese speaker, the mongering scene in China can be very tough from the language standpoint.  More so in Shanghai (and Beijing) where the past months see heavy crackdown that took out most providers. TG is the new channel for most operators when it comes to contact point as well as communication. Unfortunately, mongering scene in Chinese, much like other countries, tend to be heavy on slang so even translate APP doesn't help if you don't know the terms use. Then you add the high scam factor.

Fortunately, I was able to figure out keywords to use for the search. Even then, I needed luck and experience combo to avoid the scams.  I managed to find legit TG group chat (based on interaction from locals in the group) that eventually led to the place I'm reporting on.

I narrowed my search to 3 spa/massage places. Most spa/massage that offer HJ tend to have following signs/SOP:
- Have photos of young therapist
- Offer package that's more expensive than usual. The usual being 298 rmb for 60-80 minutes. The package will usually be in the range of 6980-1198 with the last usually end in auspicious number of 9)
- Most will offer thigh massage designed to increase arousal
- Once you're in that helpless state, the therapist will hit you with buying membership (usually 5k to 10k rmb) or topping up for more (usually HJ in rare occasion BJ/FL)

What's attractive to me with the final three is the word "release" in the final step of of the treatment list (some spa have flowery description of treatment steps). The one that I chose (one because it's the one where TG contact still work where the other one I cannot contact them ahead of time. Since foreign SIM like I use tend to not have voice call (and frankly still useless since I speak no Chinese), ability to talk to provider is important since many of them do not look obvious from the outside. Having provider coming out to meet you is critical (as well as a way to vouch for them that you're legit as well from interaction over TG and in rare occasion WeChat).

The other key phrases I like in their SOP is "no hidden fee, no membership upsell" as well as line-up (or the Chinese term used 'catwalk'). Of course, I re-confirmed this via chat beforehand. The line-up part is also rare as you usually get a therapist show up in your room where you can reject until you find the ones you like (and most place will send non-regular and foreign customers fodders first)

I got address and called Didi. Putuo area where the spa is located is just 25 minutes from my hotel. Once I got there, I had no idea where it's at. That's where having the provider coming out to find you and bring you in is critical. While it's a bit hidden in the large semi modern building, I won't have a way to find this place myself. What surprised me was that it looked like a high-end spa you would find in any tier 1 mall. Meaning it offers legit spa service to even female patrons with legit therapists.

The provider brought me in and beelined for the hidden part. A button opened up the wall that turned into door. Good sign. I went into the area with mini stage and sofa. The provider told me that the line-up is 1300 rmb class. They have different classes with most expensive being 1500 and cheapest 1000 if I recalled.

1300 rmb line up was quite impressive to be honest with 7-8 ratings. I tried to ask them the name of my top choice in the line-up so I could see more. But alas, lost in translation and they thought I chose her! Oh well, I'm too lazy to argue and she did fit my spec anyway. So I tacitly agreed and off we went. She led me to the treatment room which again, look like a nice tier 1/2 spa I would find in a nice shopping mall.

She left me to shower. Came back. Then the treatment started. The first 5 minutes of massage were literally just perfunctory rubbing. Then it gets to the more erotic portion where the therapist turned more active. Let's just say it was designed for maximum arousal. And that it did. Many of the steps are exactly why I sometime prefer this type of massage over FL. The only thing it didn't have was real legit massage first as that would have been perfect. But hey, these girls aren't here for that hard work either especially since lookwise they can basically work at KTV.

Half way through the treatment, she did go topless where I was able to play with her breast and even sucked on it. She avoided full on mouth kissing but more like kissing around the body and face with occasional lip peck. Busted my nut copiously at the final step. Final damage was exactly what was quoted upfront, 1300 rmb. Considering that most similar spa in Shanghai ask for 1500 for such package for lesser looking therapist, a lot of annoying boner killer upsell in the middle of the act...this place is awesome.

For happy ending massages, I have been using Dianping. You can search nearby wherever you're located, another person has  previously described search words to use, but many times you don't need to do that just look for the ones in the 300-400 rmb range with the same price list more than once. If it translates to release, men only, or under 18 not allowed then you might have found one to try. One thing I have found though is to check the review dates. If there aren't any recent reviews it may no longer be operating.

Hey Shanghaiabroad. In another forum, spa with HJ nowadays are at 1500 rmb on average. You mentioned 1300 is in your word "upcharge." Care to share to the community your report here on service that's apple-to-apple so myself and other bros here can save on money? Otherwise, it's easy to be negative Nancy and contribute to nothing.
