Enough to live on?

Blimey browsing 141 with nuns opposite me at the airport haha

anyway after ALL expenses of living ie eating renting, transport is 11000 HKD disposible income enough to live a decent life in HK? that is per month ? remember after all expenses of living ? a few leads came up of 23K-26K jobs per month which seem ok for US or UK companies which are fairly sizable,....

with 11000HKD I could nail 20 500HKD WGs a month! , that said if I was living here I'd be going after the locals for some semi free poon...

Thanks

Bro, the what you call "locals for some semi free poon" is certainly gonna cost you a LOT more than the WGs.

Totally agree with Jake.  “Free Poon” an’t going  to be cheap.

Don’t sell you self short – I am not sure of you background – but I bet even assuming you are relatively young and inexperienced you can probably get at least $40,000 per month  – particularly if you have a uni degree.  But things might be tough here now.

Depending on how you want to live your lifestyle, $11K is certainly enough if you eat cha chann tengs everyday, but an expat lifestyle IE weekend nights at Lan Kwai, going after chicks there and so forth will definitly be tight.  But consider the fact that many locals here makes $10 to $15Kand this is very good already.  Just depends what kind of life you want.

Can't imagine anyone having a good time in HK at $11K per month (unless you are talking US$). I will have to go with the $30-40K range for a comfortable lifestyle and a reasonable living space. Yes, you can live cheaply in HK, but I doubt that is the lifestyle Kennichi is looking for.

agreed - 11k is really tough.  40-50 is much more realistic to have some sort of quality of life.

sorry - rereading your question - if your accommodation etc are paid, you're right, don't need much more.  Depends how much you want to budget for travel away from HK, dinners (can be as pricey as WGs), etc.

there's a lot more you haven't factored in after food, housing, transport.  bros are right, 11K disposable income can be a fortune for some, but pennies for others.  depends on your desired lifestyle.  if you care only about how much you can punt with 11K, then yeah 20 girls per month is gonna keep you busy.  how bout savings? other bills? future goals?

try this thread: http://forum.sex141.com/eforum/v ... amp%3Bfilter%3Dpoll

If you're talking about money purely for WGs, then I think it's enough! It's enough for a couple of trips to Macau a month and a lot of local 141s to tide you over...

Or if you get into the Mainland mongering scene, that money will go a long way...

I think another thing to consider is what the alternatives are and what you want in life. From what I've read you are still a young guy so remember you got to save some fun in your old age (unless you want to go out ni a blaze of glory).

Also consider the current economic climate. Better to stay in the UK or go to HK? Maybe get a job for a UK company and get a placement to Hong Kong (probably later in the career).

Lots of variables. But that's a pretty good salary for a young man. Are you fresh out of Uni?

Kennichi....for ALL Expenses ie food, housing and stuff 11K HKD is NOT enough...not even close...

I would say you need at least 20K HKD...30K would be more comfortable...

FYI let me know if you need anyhelp on job hunting or w/e I'll be more than happy to lend a hand..

For an educated expat, I'll be surprise if you make less than 40000 HKD a month. Most of my company's expat are much higher... but we only send management or above people. We use the locals to do the daily work.  Good luck.

Grr read the post 11,000 is disposible income not gross income , my gross income will be 'considerably' more, but not massively more since as chinese folks say you can't take it into your coffin..

And I don't do the LKF life style I went there in 2004 and found it elitist and terribly snooty full of people living off their parent's money spending daddy's hard earned $$$ which I don't find pleasant, but still there is the saying in Chinese as well as English that wealth only lasts 3 generations.

I'm fairly at home strutting my stuff in a TST expat pub , found an interesting one 2am once at 25HKD for a pint its not too bad and had normal people just out to have a good time rather than go out to put people down as in LKF.

Thanks anyway guys..

What do you mean work as an expat? , ie have my wages paid to me in UK money and pay UK taxes? ..... quick analysis 32% (minimum) vs 15.5% HK...

Or work as a local? ,and pay my tax to the HK government

He means an expat employment contract which generally means that the remuneration package is better than local contract.  Some expat packages will give you housing, tax paid, car allowance, living standarts adjustment, start up allowance etc. but this contract can be with the HK company and not overseas.

Only reason why expat contracts are offered is to have move over expertise which can not be found in the local human capital pool.
