The REAL HK... not the FANCY one..

Hi pals!
This time when I come to HK I want to see something different, something more chinese than werstern..in one word.. the REAL HK.
A chinese friend of mine who lives in HK told me that no foreigns are interested in those places so in places like 圍村 ( walled village ) there is no western ppl.
Maybe it's because of my age (23) that i'm not interested in the rich part of HK full of western ppl looking for some expensive shopping, I'm more a  guy who is interested in see what HK is really like without Central or places like that.
Besides the 圍村 do you have some other suggestion? THANK YOU!

I think a very chinese Hong Kong is an oxymoron as this city is a wonderful mix of the west and the east, if you want Chinese,then hop across the border.  What makes HK so unique and great is this cultural mix that is so unique.

Walled city was knocked down in 1995 , for some real HK where you see no white folks go to the NT like Tai po or Sheung Wan , its off the beaten track for tourists

how about:

a local gov't housing estate
MK and Yau Ma Tei  late night - and check out street walkers too
Fei Ngo Mountain for a nice view of HK, check out people doing it in their vehicles or better yet, drive up with a girl and do her there
hit the trails and beaches in Sai Kung
eat some shit on the streets like shit-smelling tofu and mystery meat on a stick
buy some stuff in a wet market - go and pet some live chickens
go a day trip to outlying islands

but the fancy HK is also part of the 'real hk"....

Hey I have seen a lot of HK over the years.  The walled city was knocked down a long time ago, but you are right there are still walled villages - don't expect much - you will probable see more of the “real” Hong Kong on the way to these walled villages.  But I totally agree with Hunter.  A Mongkok brothel is about as real as it gets.
