#1 Post at 29-12-2015 06:42  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L PRE-EXPOSURE PROPHYLAXIS (PrEP) This new drug (PrEP) is being heavily promoted by the NYC Health Department (USA). Apparently this drug helps prevent HIV infection for those who are HIV Negative and run the risk of being exposed because of their proximity to those with HIV. This website lists those who should take it : https://www.aids.gov/hiv-aids-ba ... posure-prophylaxis/ I wonder whether anyone in this forum or wgs in Asia have heard of this pill and have started taking it. As it is not a vaccine I worry that too many people may abuse it, leading to a lessening effectiveness of the drug against HIV. Any thoughts? But the downside is, if they are learning about the 'new drugs', then they do not yet know the multitude of side effects, or second order effects of using them.  It all sounds interesting, and will possibly lead to big profits for the drug company who develops a winner.  However, like most things, the unknowns with early tests could also mean negative consequences no one yet can imagine.  Caveat emptor. "He has all the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire."
