Daily robbery in Suzhou

Dear bros
I had a very bad experience in Suzhou.
We departed from Shanghai to Suzhou today, before that I have search information on this forum and know that Suzhou is not a good place for sauna and other entertainment activities.
However, when we was going out for a tour in this city (of course the city has nice view), some motorbike driver approaching and asked us for the KTV street and took us there.
When we were there, it's a small KTV and the mamasan said that the ticket for viewing the naked dance was 30 RMB for each person / 50 mins.
However, we we were inside the room, nothing happen and the waitress asked us 200 RMB each for tipping. We discovered we are cheated, then we agreed to pay 200RMB for each girls. After that, another man stepped into the room, he is the pimp there. He calculate the room service, the room rate and we total we must bear for 1 person is 970 RMB.
This is the most frustrated experience I have been through in my life.
Total damage was:

970 RMB for each (we have 5 persons)
200 RMB for tipping (5 girls)

Total: 5850 RMB for all, nearly 1,000 USD.

This is a bad experience and a warning for any bros who intended to go to Suzhou. Nothing here for entertainment.

Thank you for viewing and hope this post do not make you feel bad

at least you got out safely, it could have been a lot worst. Take it as a lesson learned. Play safe, there are lots of places to discover in the mainland

Wow, bummer experience.  As theworm stated, at least you exited safely.

I am in Suzhou frequently.  I NEVER accept any solicitations from anyone on the street.  I stay in Shilu and I am always being asked by the trishaw drivers there if I want massage, but I have never been approached about going to a KTV.

Where did this happen, exactly?

Dude, when people on the streets offer you entertainment NEVER EVER GO

This is a big no no in China.  99% of those are fake.

I have been to Shanghai and Suzhou, and many other parts of China.  Never accepted offers from people on the street.

If you really need entertainment and don't know anybody in the area, just ask hotel concierge or busboys.  They will tell you where the safer locations are.  It will be pricier but at least safer.

Good luck next time.

In a way, you're lucky that there were 5 of you, so you could split the cost and it would have been harder to intimidate you.  This KTV scam happened to me in Shanghai a few years ago - I was alone, and was forced to pay around 5000 RMB for sitting with one girl for less than an hour and having one beer (plus 1 for the girl) and a plate of fruit I never asked for.

It's a common scam in China - not limited to Suzhou by any means!

5850 RMB? You're very lucky. Often the number is much higher.

How about this nightmare:

I got hit for over 59,000. I'm not sure where they got that number instead of rounding off to 60K.

Be really careful!
