OK here is my question...

I have a civi girl in Guangzhou that I meet sometimes for overnight there.
We want to try to meet during the day sometimes in Shenzhen or Zhuhai since I am usually working in HK or Macau. Are there any safe hourly hotels there like in Hong Kong? I tried to search and couldn't find anything.

Since we really cannot name hotel names on our forum - howzabout I refer you to a timeout article that has a write up on  a lot of these motels

And if in China - a lot of hotels do have 3 or 4 hour rates available for occupancy up to usually 6 or 7 pm.  all you need to do is ask at the reception - no big deal - and you'll get a reply if available or not with no fanfare etc

I am going in a package tour in Hong Kong and would be visiting Disneyland and Ocean Park  99% of package tours have these 2 places but I am not interested in going there (as i already have visited Disneyland in USA and Ocean Park in Singapore) rather interested for good sauna experience and wg. Can someone please suggest nearby places

Unfortunately there really are no such places close by.

What I suggest is that you should accompany your family to the Admiralty bus station for the Free Ocean Park bus and tell them you will meet them back at that station later. Tell them that meanwhile you need to go meet a business associate/friend etc in central/go shopping there - whilst of course you do your "own thing"

The same thing with Disneyland - send them off on the MTR closest to where you're staying/meeting them back later.  The MTR will get them to Disneyland and back efficiently

Great idea on the chat thing.  I can see this thing getting way out of hand though.  How am I going to keep track of all the different conversations going on in one thread.  Lots to handle!

My question to keep this discussion going.  Who is SEAJ?  How did he suddenly rise to prominence?  How does he have time to read and participate in so many threads.  How can I do the same?  Really, reading the forums takes a long time and I don't know how you find the time to do it.

In Hong Kong and Macau do they have standard cab rates or prefixed before travel also are night and day rates are different?

I have known this girl for a long time, she is civi mainland girl but unfortunately she doesn't like to do 3some. Hong Kong does have fixed cab rates - some of s also have direct phone numbers to taxi drivers and their own club who offers 20% discount on longer taxi rides i.e. to the airport and/or you may bargain with them for a fixed fare on a longer distance.

During rush hour/busy times - lots of us also need to offer added incentives when phoning for taxis to come to you - say offer extra $10 or whatever - just so that you can get a taxi fast.

I'm not sure about Macao these days - they're in such short supply there.  Anybody here can advise??

We seem to have several threads going on at the same time getting nominations for the best whatever whatever of the past year.  So which one should we be looking at??

On top of that - it don't seem as if ANY of these threads for nomination etc seems to be getting any traction or participation.  And when I think about it - I would think that most people don't really care about what's happened in 2010 - right after the clock struck midnight Dec 31 2010.  

And I'm wondering if we even should have such a poll - for I'd think that most guys here think that their own post/report/thread etc is the best.  Those who do not even get a mention may feel that their efforts had been wasted and instead discourage them.  I'd opine that the amount of karmas they got as well as the responses they got when they first put up their post should suffice.

Just one of those IMHO's I raise to get you guys-es hackles raised....and start blasting away here.

Doghead - thanks for the congrats - and the success OR failure of this thread basically depends on ALL of us - newbies, oldies, mods etc.  

Everybody will or will not participate in it according to what they want or NOt want in the forum.

One of the most important hope that I have for this thread is that it encourages NEWBIES to make that first few posts on our forum here....and get the kind of reception that will make him realize that - "Hey - yes, this forum IS a great place to belong to, to get usable information, to feel a sense of community and able to contribute!"

To often we've seen newbies driven away - simply because nobody bothers to answer oft repeated questions by newbies or worse - nobody even realizes that somebody is asking a question.

And I still remember as a newbie the sense of bewilderment at how things work here (or not work!!), how anytime I want to ask a question, I worry about making somebody mad (or worse, dock me K's), how so many seniors all come down on me AT THE SAME time anytime I DID make a mistake.  Man.... All of s were newbies once - yeah, we survived - but how many newbies here did not???!!
