Pay as you Go Sim Card in HK

Hi Bro's,

I performed a search but the info was old so just wanted to ask a simple question.

I have an iPhone 4 and I will be in HK for 2 1/2 days from tomorrow before flying to Europe. I just want a sim card for my phone that will have internet too.

My phone is with 3 but I have had a falling out with them and need a PAYG sim till I get to Europe.

Do I have to go to a phone shop, a friend told me I could buy a sim a 7/11 - if so any idea how much??

Thanks

in AUS at least, most phone Co.s have no problem unlocking your phone for you when you have a contract. The reason is, They are getting the money from the contract regardless so no big deal. When I went to Hk a few weeks ago I had arranged my iPhone unlocked in advance. I bought a PCCW SIM at 7/11 for HK$68 and then added HK$300 stored value. That allowed me to call, text and surf with no drama.

I usually get the 3 prepaid sim card. Has pretty good 3G speeds and if you get the one that is 198, you can roam with data in Macau and China for 98/day. If you buy the 3 Macau sim card it is 100 a day.

There was one sim card I bought earlier this year at a 7-11 I think it was china mobile that only offered 2G data speeds. Was pretty slow surfing the web.

For those that are interested in prepaid sim in HK...

I bought a onetwofree sim card for 48 dollars, they have lots of different types which they will talk through with you. The 48 dollars sim card was just for local calls & sms which is what I wanted.

You can also access 3G for 28 dollars for 24 hours, she told me that this runs out at 12am everyday, she was wrong. It runs out the next day at the time you paid for it..

Petay, where did you buy it?

is iPhone size SIM available?

When you say 3G access for extra $28/ per day? does that give unlimited downloads?

how about the call costs for international calls?

sorry for the barrage of questions but sounds good if i can use for web browsing and international calls & SMS as well as local calls and SMS.

I went to the onetwofree store in Tuen Mun, these are everywhere - they will sit you down and talk you through everything you want.

International calls are available on a different package (prepaid sim). As far as I am aware it is unlimited downloads yes and they also have iPhone size SIM available and they will fit it their for you as this is what they did for me.

I think their Prepaid SIM's vary from 48 to 128 dollars.

Does anyone know if there is a prepay sim that I can get to use in HK and can use in Macau? As I know you can get a sim for HK and a sim for Macau but what I need is a HK number which can take calls in Macau as got friends in HK who might need to contact me whilst Im in Macau and allow me to call them if I want.
And has 3G for both places. Is there such a sim card ?
Thanks
