Official Sex141 Automotive Thread!

Forum seems a bit dead, so why not add a Automotive thread! I'm sure theirs some gear heads on here

What kind of cars do you drive and what kind of mods are you planning on doing to your car or cars? Or post anything car related!

I'll start, my daily driver right now is a 2010 Mercedes Benz C63 AMG + premium package, wanted the AMG package as well but when I was test driving, the ride is wayyyy too harsh, especially when our roads suck! + and my track/weekend car is a 2006 E46 M3, 6 speed, Competition Package + CSL exterior mods, didn't do anything to the engine, mostly stock except for cosmetics mods.

My folks are planning on trading in their Range Rover, anyone have experiences with the X5M or ML63? Much appreciated!

Problem is most of the bros of this forum are based in HK which would mean most of us do not have a car. Too expensive to have one and so much more convenient to use the inexpensive taxis, buses, and mtrs. Maybe you will have to rename the thread, dream cars we wished we could have if money was no object.

Yeah HK cars are expensive as hell! but I'm sure theirs some pretty rich guys from HK on here + Rest of the world as well! Lucky for me the cars in North America are a bit cheaper than Asia, I'd hate to be in Australia too, I think a base 3 series cost over 100k USD over there? can anyone confirm?

If we name it to dream cars, than the thread will be like one page lol this thread is to talk about cars + get help or advice about certain cars, just anything about cars

New cars in HK are pretty expensive. You can get good deals on 2nd hand one's though.

2 of my friends have just got good deals on a golf GTI and a Nissan skyline.

I myself used to have a Fiesta ST 2 litre sport in the UK. Absolutely loved it! But like doghead said, I honestly do not see the point in having a car out here. Saving so much money selling mine out of the UK, insurance & tax etc for a car in the UK is a bitch!

Maybe we should create a local version of this thread for HK ???

What are your favorite bus routes ? What's the highest speed you had on a minibus ? Do you like the latest model of Tramway ?

Just curious, what exactly is a "track car"?

Where do you track your car? I have heard there are places in Zhuhai but you have to get the China license plate and permit take the car in China. There is a fellow in my building who has four porches one of which he says he keeps somewhere in China and runs on the track on the weekends. Where would this be?

Separately there is in Dubai, see another post on the same topic of veggie café, a place where one can go to a track and drive a real F3 or other fast car. Are you aware, is there such a place in China perhaps in Zhuhai or Shenzhen?I am really keen on giving this a go.

thanks

Keep on mongering

Oh sorry, I live in North America, a track car is sorta like a stripped model, so you always have Summer performance tires, heavily tuned(ECU flash/intakes etc), heavily modded suspension thats built for tackling corners and being driven hard on a track, like Laguna Seca(In Cali) or Silverstone(UK) etc. but for me..it's just a car that I take to the track more often than my other car, it's more of a weekend car than anything, I still drive it regularly but my spine cracks every time I hit a pot hole head on and I prefer to drive a auto especially during traffic jam hours..doing like 2-3 shift changes every 5 seconds is not fun.. lol..

I take it to my local track on track days, an outing with friends or autocross with other groups. But it gets expensive...tires..premium octane + car maintenance I've never tracked a car in Zuhai but I've actually heard about Zuhai having a really nice karting track and a dedicated race track(for cars, but if someone could clarify that'd be great)

In China, probably Shanghai has a international circuit or Zuhai? Those are the two on the top of my head, You should befriend that guy and get him to bring you to one those track days and take him out for dinner hahaha

I'm also interested, if we can drive real F3 or other really fast cars in China, if anyone knows, I'd like to know as well!

If you ever get a chance to go to UK, be sure to rent a car and take a spin around the Nurburgring track in Germany.

I have an old thread on taxes on luxury cars in HK

==========================

Private Car Taxable Value:
(a) on the first $150,000       40%
(b) on the next $150,000        75%
(c) on the next $200,000       100%
(d) on the remainder           115%

===========================

The Maybach isn't the most expensive car in the world, but it is the highest-price line of autos made by Mercedes-Benz. The 62S model of the Maybach costs 8 million Hong Kong dollars (about US$1 million). And that's without extras.

But the biggest reason for its high price is the Hong Kong luxury tax, about 50% in this Chinese territory. In the U.S., the car costs about $459,000.

Well it's just a suggestion bro + maybe some people don't wanna go on those forums or forgot their pw's since all they do is sex141 ;) one stop shop! you can talk about cars here but you can't talk about punting in other car forums like mbworld etc. first hand experience lol

SEAJ COMPLETELY agree! I love the E46 M3, won't say that if someone gave me a 2011 E92 M3 or trade it for my E46 straight up I wouldn't take the deal though

I would think it is best you ask one of those auto traders/dealers who are on Gloucester Road (ground floor) in Wanchai around the old Wanchai police station. Many of those dealers bring in grey-market Japanese and European cars. I assume for a small handling fee, they can take care of all the paperwork hassles for you and help you find people to maintain your car.
