NHL Playoffs

There's been a discussion here about the NBA playoffs but I don't see one for the NHL. Now that the playoffs is about to start, what are your predictions??

Me? Canucks all the way!!!!!!

A side note, does anyone know if there are any sites that will have the games live (streaming) since most of the games will be during work hours...

seriously, unless you're canadian, who cares about hockey?

canucks dominated the west... so chances are a habs like performance from the 8 seed will take them out in 6.  islanders fan here, but wouldn't mind if the rangers knocked off ovechkin et al.

i always find it interesting how it's America vs the World in terms of sports appreciation.  So like we think european football is for pussies and the rest of the world thinks american football, given the helmets and padding, is for pussies.  similarly, to americans, cricket is incomprehensible and boring, and baseball is viewed the same by the rest of the world.

If they get that monkey off their back, i.e. the Blackhawks, then yes I like their chances to make it out of the West

dude, i don't disagree that hockey guys are crazy tough.

i was just saying that most Americans find hockey uninteresting for the low scoring and the lack of personalities.  Hockey guys are just better behaved off the ice than pro athletes in other sports.  It's definitely a canadian upbringing thing.  Also the fact that they're not paid as much probably tones down the showboating and outside partying.

So we got:

1) Canucks
2) Rangers
3) Islanders
4) Sharks
5) Canadians

@ priapus and bp626 - settle down guys.. haha.. it's all good... Yes, hockey is def a crazy sport. I've played both rugby and hockey for most of my life. I can take some pretty big hits from some pretty big guys in rugby but I've been hit by some relatively smaller guys in hockey that I didn't want to get up from!! I've had some major stitches from hockey fights and skates too... tough sport and def respect the guys that play professionally.

funny you make fun of cricket. a sport you don't know anything about neither do i. all i know is that they make way more money than us and their wives i'm pretty sure are good looking. yeah you sure you've been with a good looking girl. doubt it. but keep on with your uneducated posts and replies.

My call is Vancouver and Boston in the finals with Vancouver taking it in 6 !!!!

I won't be surprise if Vancouver sweeps the Hawks ... they don't have the depth they had last year.

thank you, priapus...   my bad and apologies if i offended you but i really DISLIKE people who talk shit about HOCKEY. i jsut rad you first sentence and it got me steaming red hot and didn't

even bother to read the rest of your comments....         once again, no Harm or Mean Thoughts towards you, ok-la? well, not only Canadians love Hockey, Europeans

love it just as much but nothing compared to Soccer Fans (Futball)....     i am a huge Barcelona & Manchester United fan but that's another subject, let's keep to Hockey......    every year,

there is ome kind of UPSET, for instance, DOES EVERYONE REMEMBER WHEN THE MONTREAL CANADIENS WERE 8th Seeded and DEMOLISHED Washington Capitols (#1 Seeded)

and Pittsburgh Penguins (#2 Seeded)....?   it's all about Heart and Passion in the Playoffs. records don't mean jack shit after the puck is dropped duriing the playoff's. please do not sent me

HATE COMMENTS about what the HABS did to your Teams last year.  i do like the Caps & Pens because they have GREAT PLAYERS ON & OFF THE ICE. i am a LOYAL HABS Fan for Life.

like i mentioned before, GOOD LUCK TO WHOMEVER WINS LORD STANLEY....   MAY THE BEST TEAM WIN......    even if my HABS get knocked out by the Bruins, whoever WANTS IT

MORE will WIN......    no, i don't HATE CHARRA for the hit he made on the glass edge. shit happens in Hockey and it's a TOUGH SPORT.....   but what Bertuzzi did to that rookie was

WRONG......   he wacked that Avalanche player in the back of the head with his Stick........   i believe he can never play Hockey again, am i right? i know Bertuzzi plays for Detroit but that

SHIT was uncalled for.....     but NOONE REALLY KNOWS what was said between the two players except them. i'm sure if someone said something about my Parents, Family and Loved

Ones, i would have pounded the fuck out of him on the ice too......   let's hope NO MORE REAL VIOLENT SHIT like that happens in the Playoff's......   thank you, everyone for hearing me

out.....   i am very Passionate for my Love for HOCKEY.......

I was merely remarking on hockey being a distant fourth in the hierarchy of American team spectator sports.  Given the diaspora of Hong Kong families to Canada (it was a lot easier than immigrating to the US), it's no surprise that many site members care about hockey.

I never denigrated cricket as a sport.  I just said Americans in the aggregate find it boring and incomprehensible.  This is a fact.  As crazy as it sounds to the rest of the world, we also find european football very boring too.  If you can't identify with something either because you didn't grow up with it, or because you don't know the players playing, it's hard to care.  This is an observation, not a judgment.

A Canucks Boston final would be sweet. Would be awesome to se the Canucks fianlly go all the way.

Hoceky is way more exciting to watch live than baseball, football or basketball. And tons more fun to play. It is the worlds fastest game.

oh boy here we go again, you say this fine thing:

allow me to retort (Samuel L. Jackson):
i love it how you try to twist things. what are you some kind of jedi who can do mind tricks. in the 1st post where do you say hockey is the fourth. where do you mention the hk diaspora as well. yes you use the word we like you represent every american. why say anything about cricket why be so ethnocentric, uh oh you might have to look that up. if baseball is so unpopular around the world why the hell is there the WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC, which has been played twice and is coming again in 2 years???

yes your posts are so helpful on the mongering scene. it is because of you so many members are being helped by your posts. i could care less of the oh so intelligent words you use. before using big words underage boy know how to use them properly first. oh wait you are so smart i'm going to call you watson the super computer that was on jeopardy

IN CONCLUSION: LET'S GO REDWINGS !!! LET'S GO REDWINGS !!! LET'S GO REDWINGS !!!

Gonna vote for the Canucks - big fan here!

They played a great game last night.  Too much depth on this team to lose to Chicago again (unless they choke).  Canucks in 5 or 6.

The canucks are strong but their defensive core is not as deep as some are made to believe. I'm sure they will get past the first round against a much weaker hawks team compared to last season. Though who knows, for the past 2 years, the hawks have had the canuck's number.

The wings are obviously another team to watch for every season and franzen is on fire during these times.

I think out west, it's anyone's game. The Caps are playing more defensive hockey now which will do them well during the playoffs but the Bruins and the Flyers are strong as well (though the Flyers were on a slide near the end of regular season).

It's a great playoff this year... glad to see Nashville being considered a dark horse. I'm hoping the Bruins can take it this year!

Anyhow, any one know where I can actually catch some of the games at a bar?? I know they play some afternoon games over there so that would be perfect time for a weekend night!

San Jose's still my dark horse....

but Canucks....I have  a feeling their window's closing really soon, so I definitely hope that they go deep.
Habs.... I still don't think they're tough enough.
Boston.... Very fun to watch. Although...I still think Chara should be done for the year.
