Any golf tips in Macau?

Has anyone here played golf in Macau?  I'm an early riser and would like to kill some time while my buddies are recovering from the excessive nightly entertainment.  Specifically,
- what's the best courses available to the public?
- Cost?
- Is it worth it to play if I'm used to the higher end clubs in the US?
- Is the weather conducive for golf in May?

thx in advance for any input.

I don't play, but from what I've heard from others is that the course at the Macau Golf and CC is probably the best. I think there's only Caesars as an alternate.

MG&CC is supposedly better because it has more of a hill terrain, is closer to the water, etc. No idea if you can play as a non-member.

Just do a serach for "Macau golf" and you'll find the numbers to call.

The weather right now is perfect and suspect by May it will be a tad warmer.

MG&CC is open to the public and I believe you may get a discount if you stay at the Westin although that was a few years ago. Of course there really isn't much of a reason to stay there since it is "relatively" far from all the fun spots in Macau. Weather in May should be ok and will definitely beat going in the summer heat.

I personally thought the course was quite middle of the pack compared to the courses in the US. I found the courses in HK and China to be more fun and challenging. It wasn't terrible however and the finishing holes along the water were nice. Definitely wouldn't go out of my way to play it but if you have clubs with you anyway I'd probably go for a round. If you go ask for Edgardo as your caddy, good natured guy from the Philippines.

Caesers is the other course in Macau but I hear it is quite flat and boring, like a bad mainland WG lol.

Here's the WEEKDAY prices for MG&CC for nonmembers.  They come straight from my email reservation.

$1,550 per player

$300 per cart

$450 per club rental

I believe the rentals are graphite callaway x-16s.  They do claim to have just a couple steel shaft rentals, so make sure you ask.

Caesar's is cheaper, but I heard it's not good for discriminating players like us

I ended up not making my teetime as I got "stuck" (in a good way) with a WG

Wow, thanks for all the info, guys.

I was planning to bring my clubs but with 2 stops/plane transfers on my way over from the US, it will be a major hassle, esp. since I will only play 1 day.  Then again, need an excuse so the SO will let me go to Macau to 'play golf.'  Haha

I will definitely come back w/ a review if I get a chance to play.

2 questions:
1- if I take a caddy, do I still have to rent a cart?  I remember there were some crazy rules when I played at Mission Hills last year, so I don't want to be surprised.
2- if I organize a golf tournament in Macau, how many of you would be willing to travel that far to play?  I'm thinking 2-3 days of golf and we get the Saunas/KTVs to provide some promotional girls with coupons to lure us to their facilities, maybe some flesh flash of the festivities at night.  Am I dreaming or what?

Check out this very professionally run amateur tournament in Buenos Aires.  I guarantee you that golf was not the only attraction for the worldwide attendance.  Would love to replicate in Asia:

I've played in Macau and the descriptions of the courses and prices given earlier is accurate. I find golfing there a little overpriced BUT it's a great excuse to go to Macau without much interrogation. Night golf is even better there with so many HO-les to choose from. If you organize a tournament, i recommenf friday night arrival and player pre game warm up, Sat & Sunday Golf and fun......for sure I'd be game but i suck at golf.....

whoa, i looked at the argentine photos.  looked like a bunch of horny dudes (although there was a ladies' competition too).  i've mongered in BAs just the one time.  Black and Madaho's.  I liked the argentine and urugayan stunners well enough, but their service is unacceptable by Macau standards.

i think a golf tourney in macau would be a tough sell.  macau is just not a golfing destination, and is not likely to become one (the current courses are on coloane and taipa, and real estate is very tight on those little islands).  i'm sure the japanese already hold annual golf events in macau, but it's a relatively short flight for them.

In regards to caddies and carts I'm not sure exactly. It seemed like it was mandatorywith a cart but I'm not sure. I did see a couple of players walking the course but for the life of me I cant remember if they had caddies or not.

A golf mongering tournament does sound awesome, although I don't think I'd care asmuch about my score until the "19th hole" lol

I've heard Macau have good courses because of the casinos.  I wonder if it's worth it to bring my clubs on the next vacation.  It's definitely a hassle lugging those things around.

Priapus, I agree that the latin stunners at Blacks Gent club in Buenos Aires are unforgettable.  Unlike you, I was lucky to have exceptional service just about every time.  I do make it a point to rent an apt no more than 2 blocks away from the club, so maybe that has something to do with it.  They know I can just punt them and walk downstairs to pick another one.  I also like the fact that BA girls are not clock watchers, most like to stay and party before and after the fireworks... if you treat them w/ respect and are funloving, that is... not to mention paying US$200-300/girl.

As for the golf in Macau, I'm thinking maybe 2 days of competition is plenty.  Need to reserve energy for after hours .  Tournament will be expensive, though, minimum US$400-500 for the 2 days, but if we have post round parties at KTV or Sauna, now that would be something to look forward to.

I will need to make some contacts when I go to Macau next month, see if I can find some local sponsors and organizers.  May be a pipe dream, but man, would be so awesome.

respect bro!

not clock watchers?  how's your spanish?  are you some kind of argentinian super stud?

haha.  i'm a chinese guy and the kind of service i received in argentina was the same as lisboa racetrack girls.  they wanted me to cum quickly, and get the hell out of dodge.

this is why i love macau so much, and only punt PRC.  Compared to my white friends i punt with, i am getting far more "stay and party" experiences from chinese girls.

it's just much easier for girls to provide a gfe when it's not such a huge leap from reality.

Priapus, I'm asian but fluent in Spanish, so maybe that's the secret.  How do you get GFE if both of you are doing some insane sign language while struggling to communicate?

However, I don't speak a lick of Mandarin or Cantonese, so it's always tough for me to connect w/ chinese girls.  This explains why you have better experience w/ PRCs, I bet your Mando is close to perfect.  Not sure 'reality' has anything to do with it.  Funny thing about us humans, we like to talk to each other...
