Caught Punter Deported from China/Shanghai.

Haven't read/heard for a long time as to what actually happens to Foreigners when they get caught punting; apparently, the authorities will still deport/ban guys caught - even these days!
Not the most encouraging of news to read... but... here it is!!

Japanese man deported over illegal sex
By Jia Feishang | 2010-11-12 | ONLINE EDITION

A Japanese man who was caught having sex with a prostitute had
been deported after serving a 10-day detention, the Exit-Entry
Department of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau said today.
The 35-year-old, who lived alone in Shanghai, was caught by police last
month at an entertainment venue which he often visited. He was
detained for 10 days and deported on November 6 because prostitution is illegal in China.

The man had worked in Shanghai for an international cosmetics
company for three years. His wife stayed in Japan to take care of their
twin daughters. He was fired by the company after the incidence.
Gu Wen, an official with the bureau, told Shanghai Daily that the man
is unable to return to Shanghai in three months and he will have
difficulty finding a job in Shanghai because he will only get a three month
visa due to his bad record.

It's never easy getting caught for a crime in China as a Japanese.  At our club we had an incident with a Japanese customer, we didn't wanna press charges, but the police absolutely went overboard on what happened and I believe he's still sitting in jail right now.  The recent situation with the Diaoyu islands also makes things difficult for the Japanese living in China.  I personally hate when the locals refer to Japan as " small Japan ".  It might be a small country, but it's far more superior in many many aspects of life.  The " jealous hater " attitude seems to be a common one in the locals.  Thanks for the information, looks like us punters need to keep our heads up and eyes and ears open.

Yes, I do detect there "May Be" hints of bigotry in this matter, given the shrill and provocative noise being made by both China as well as Japan.

Actually I hate to say this, but I do hope that this particular arrest and deportation is much more a case of such bigotry i/o hints of action against ALL foreigners in China.

I've NOT heard of such action against punters for at least a few years - and was surprised when I ran across this particular news.  The only other such prosecution was when that opposition Politician from Hong Kong was caught and detained a year or so ago - which  of course smacked of political intrigue instead of prosecution of a foreigner for sexually illicit behaviour.

Even that big scandal in Zhuhai a few years ago when a bunch of Japanese were caught having a "party" - if I recall, only the mommies and gals got in trouble and no Japanese was even detained.

Who knows what the state of play is in China at any given time - it's always fluid ain't it?

The last time was just before the Chinese Olympic games.  I heard they deported a bunch foreign business men in Beijing and Shanghai. They has something like 10 days to leave and they had a stamp their passports.
