Young and “dangerous” in North Point

http://thedarkside.hk/2010/12/07/young-and-dangerous-in-north-point/

We bring you this news bulletin from the front lines of North Point where a brave war correspondent captured some stunning footage of a real-life Hong Kong brawl in action. Like some kind of enthralling national geographic video, the 3-minute clip shows some real-life Gu Wak Jai caught in action in the wild:

Sadly, however, the events in the video are not as impressive as the quality, and the fight plays out more like a simple kindergarten skirmish. There are no choppers or triad beatings involved and, despite there being 17 people, the childlike events amount to little more than a short-term road block. The bitch-slapping fight took place on Sunday at 22:52 on the North Point junction beside Java Road Market and, while it is hard to tell what the altercation is about, one can see that there are some middle aged men on one side and some youths on the other.

After about a minute of finger-pointing, pussy slapping, light poking and a one too many “diu lei lo mos,” the real action starts in the  video at 1:10. However, it soon deteriorates into nothing more than agirlish run-around, with one four-eyed chubby guy even falling over himself at 1:30 and 1:55. Even the victim who gets it worse does not shed blood. In fact the real casualty is the pride of Hong Kong streets and the hardcore image we’ve worked so hard to build up in all our propagandist kung fu movies.

lol, I think this is just a case of "school yard fighting" . . .
these guys don't look much older than 16, i bet their balls have barely dropped, and testosterone is running high.

And it's funny cause a lot of GOO WAK JAI'S in Vancouver sort of idolize Chan Ho Nam from Young and dangerous hahaha.. believe it or not. . . a lot of asian "gangsters" have the dragon tattoo going across their chest and what not. presumably made famous by Chan ho nam himself.

Yes, I got a good laugh out of watching the video and to know that it happened on the "streets" of Hong Kong just made it all the more amusing particularly the guy with the glasses drunk out of his mind and finding every which way possible to swing wildly and fall all over himself during the melee.

I quite enjoy reading the articles posted on the darkside's website. Something about the tone of their writing as they report and try and explain many of the absurdity's that occur in Hong Kong on a daily basis just tickle my funny bone

I find Chinese kids in general are not nearly as violent as the one in the US. I've come out worse outof sparring sessions at the gym than 5 on 1 "fights" in China. Kids in the US shoot and stab for the dumbest things.

I love the guy who kisses the tarmac a few seconds after 1:23, only to stand up and get knocked back down a few seconds later.

I'm not really impressed with this current generation of goo wak jai.  Back in the 70s and 80s they were bad-ass, now they've just degraded into the kids in the video.

LOL at the fat guy who wiped out trying to attempt a backhand after 2 faceplants ... these guys would've been eaten alive in North America.

Actually, this is quite incredible and could be a new record!

Must be the longest duration of the slightest disturbance in HK Island without a copper turning up to demand ID cards from everyone in a 50 foot radius!

You know its a serious kick off when you see one of the protagonists picking up his spec's from the ground before continuing in the Melee.

LOL, despite it being a fight... it was actually quite funny to watch - most of them couldnt even throw a good punch XD
They should consider themselves lucky not being hit by a car when they were on the road though

Haha, a very common sight in HK when it comes to verbal arguments not very different from those who yell while talking on their phones. They point fingers, shout obscenities, hoping one will be intimidated. Very reserved when it comes to real action. More like b*tch slapping than actual modern-day kung fu fighting.

Ahh I saw this clip in another forum where they compared the fight with Russian gang fight. Where all you see in the end of the Russian fight was bodies allllll over the floor, probably was like about 50+ people in total. Everyone scared of each other in Hong Kong.

Yep a lot of bitch slapping too in the HK one. The guy missed the kick.
