We've got this unusual little virtual community here in the forum, but just how common are we?

I come from a smallish city in New England (USA), and lived there until almost 20. If there were WG's in my home town, I never heard about it.  As a teenager, prostitution was never a topic of conversation, and it never even occurred to any of us that the option was available. Either we had GF's, or we jerked off.

I lived in Boston from 20-25 while attending university, and tho I knew that prostitution existed in the city, no one I knew paid for sex. I had girlfriends or I went without. And prostitution was thought sleazy.

It was only when I moved to Taiwan in my mid-20's that I became aware that I could have sex with young girls for money. But in Taiwan I usually had GF's so I only visited WG's 3-4 times.

A trip to Thailand shortly after arriving in Asia was my real introduction to mongering as a way of life. I made frequent trips to BKK and went crazy.

Then Japan, and tho prostitution is everywhere in old Nippon, finding lovers was so easy that I didn't have to pay. But for most of the time I was in Taiwan and Japan, I was a young guy. My options become increasingly limited as I grow older.

I still don't monger in the States when I return, but that is probably going to change.

This trip to HK has been very different from past visits, and I owe that all to this site.

The thing to understand about the States is that for us prostitution is considered immoral, at least where I come from. Things are changing, and big cities like SF, LA and NYC are more sophisticated. But I seriously doubt if any of my other male relatives has ever paid for sex, and I don't think any of my friends have either, except friends made here in Asia. When the average rural American thinks of prostitution, he thinks of drug-addicted, diseased, physically unattractive street walkers.

Asia and parts of Europe have a much more relaxed attitude towards human sexuality. In Asia, you've never suffered the scourge of Christianity when it was most oppressive. Christianity is a sex-hating religion. It's no coincidence that we experienced a sexual revolution in the 60 and 70's - we needed it!

So, anyway, I would say that less than 5% of my friends/acquaintances monger - for the rest it's considered too extreme. In fact, other than with an English friend in the States and an American friend in Japan, I rarely discuss it outside this forum. I wondered what the other guys' experiences are.

You would be suprised what people would pay for sex. I mean even a whale or ugly ass whores can make a living by whoring themselves. It's amzaing how desperate people are in the US (at least in the Bay Area). OMG!

I used to have a friend that would monger with occasionally. But he got married and moved away. When I was in the Navy, some of the shipmates took me to some TJ bar and got a quickie.

Usually I just monger by myself. Most of my friends aren't the monger type (especially those coming from HK).

I would say about 20% of my friends that I know of do. The ones that are married and have GF are not typical ones I would ask to go with. I would say you would be surprised who does. What's a WG? New here for the first time.

I think it must be the lifestlye in Asia and Europe. There arre lots of whore houes/massage places in Canada, so someone's going to them. I never did it when I had a GF but now i'm going to asia next month..it's party time : D

Those of us living in the U.S., finding WGs is hard, like Escritic says there are lots of ugly chicks. Yes we get lucky once in awhile. We don't have as many quality girls as in Asia. Could be because there are more job choices for the young girls, they don't come from such poor families.

Mostly I think it's christianity.

The funny thing is most of the young girl here will sleep around for beer & dinner, but they wouldn't consider selling themselves for cash...go figure

Given all that, I think less than a hand full of my friends monger, they will download porn but can't see them visiting WG.

agreeing with unmask here. It's not that there isn't cash paying for sex in the states but jst that the girls will screw for dinner/movies/gifts.

Mars, my situation is pretty much the same as yours, except I was brought up in England. Never even thought about visiting a
prostitute until landed in Thailand in 1980. After that, there was no stopping mean and I became addicted. Other than fellow

It is certainly more "accepted" albeit beneath the radar? in Asia. In the UK (as with the US) it's associated with drugs, crime, and women who are forced into the business. Because of the small market WG's are often older, less attractive, etc... I have never paid for sex in the UK, but in HK do it quite regularly. It's cheaper and there are some attractive women to be found. I grew up in HK and only really come across it after mixing more with local chinese guys. To my knowledge, none of my international school friends monger on a regular basis.
On the plus side, it seems much easier to meet women for casual relationships in the UK than in HK - perhaps this has alot to do with communication (I don't speak alot of cantonese), and also no doubt because western women are more liberal and open.
