Chinese woman sentenced to death for prostitution ring

BEIJING — A Chinese court on Wednesday sentenced to death two women convicted of running a prostitution ring, adding to the heavy punishments meted out in a crackdown on Mafia-like gangs in the inland city of Chongqing.

Wang Ziqi and Tao Minggu were convicted of leading a criminal organization, forcing women into prostitution, bribing officers and a list of other crimes, the Xinhua news agency reported.

Twenty-four suspected accomplices received sentences ranging from a suspended death penalty — likely to be commuted to life in prison — to two years in jail, said the report.

Chongqing's urbane Communist Party boss, Bo Xilai, has gained nationwide popularity by spearheading a high-profile clampdown on organized crime in the riverside city, which is trying to emerge as a regional magnet for industry and investment.

In this country where few citizens oppose the widespread use of the death penalty, Wang and Tao are unlikely to attract much sympathy.

The court found that Wang founded a chain of brothels in Chongqing from 1994, and between 1998 and 2009 her gang amassed illegal earnings of 100 million yuan ($14.8 million).

Chongqing courts have already sentenced dozens of people to death or long jail terms over the past several months as part of the crackdown in the sprawling city.

The campaign has been marked by lurid tales of murder and extortion by cops-turned-robbers. Some observers have said Bo, the son of a Communist revolutionary leader, has used the crackdown to burnish his credentials as an aspiring national leader.

Last month, Chongqing's disgraced former justice chief was executed after he was convicted of protecting gangs, bribery, rape and other crimes.

Wow! 100 million yuan. That's a lot of money even by western standards. Wonder if that's true or they just pulled a number out of a hat. I would have retired when I reached $1 million and sold the business to a competitor. Some people just don't know when to stop and smell the roses.

100m RMB is not a lot of money when amassed over a decade. Sure they must've have made more money than that when money is piled into the property and stock markets. When you're able to bribe officials, that's a lot of power. The death sentence is the norm in China considering they were forcing girls into prostitution and bribing Govt officials.

Sorry have to disagree, 100 million is a lot of money, wether it's accumulated over a decade or three.

I do wonder if all this is part of a larger power struggle ahead of the rotation of leaders in the Central Military Commision and Politburo in 2012, that was mentioned in the "China must reform or die" article, with General Liu representing the liberal wing and Bo Xilai the hardliners. You'd think it would be the other way around with the military man being the hardliner.

Control of the PLA is a cornerstone of the party's control, if the military starts to factionalise we could actually see real change in the political situation in China.

Sorry, I was referring to RMB100 is not a lot of money when it's made in China. This would be difficult in the West in the existing economic climate unless you're in finance. China has a booming economy with a huge population. I have many mainland friends who have made more than RMB100m in just 3 years and they are well connected to Govt officials. They do not do anything illegal but just have good gaunxi and started with very small businesses.

I'd put this in more context that it's more than Prostitution that's the problem.  It's all the other crimes that was committed in lieu of prostitution ring that was somewhat disturbing.  It's one thing to have a bunch of workers, it's another to abuse them.

Think possitive and anything is possible. Known many mainland business friends for nearly 10 years now. Back then their average individual net worth was not more than 300,000 RMB now it's well over 100m RMB, most of it made in the past 3 years and still growing exponentially.

hey geoduck what does the term good gaunxi means in english?

100 mill yuan is a lot of money in china and compared to an average working white unclass collar taking in only $200 bucks
a week in with a degree in University working in a sweat factory.

Heck translated that into american dollars 14 mill that is still a quite a boatload of mulas.

The question is where can u legally stash this cash in the US without IRS or FBI or ICE coming on your doors steps
to find whether this mulas is illegal or drug money?

Sorry, had missed your post. According to Wikipedia, Guanxi could be described as follows:

"Guanxi describes the basic dynamic in personalized networks of influence, and is a central idea in Chinese society"

Money can be made very easily in China. Take infrastructure for instance. In the US, this happened in the 60's when the country built up its infrastructure and lots of money was made. The building business is also good in China and suppliers are raking in profits of tens of millions a month, also retail.

The recent crackdowns paints a disturbing future, this country is still in the middle of economic development and its society is still undergoing modernization with all its facets. The Chinese are much more sexually active than before, and these crackdowns going on lately will just put more pressure on the people. No matter how docile and harmless the people might seem, a day will come when they say "enough is enough".

I was already pissed off when they closed the online chatting channels, that was a great place to meet new hot and young girls. now its gone, and they ruined it for freelancers.

Have you experienced any of the girls from these online chatting channels? Is it something like compensated dating in HK?

Yes I did try quite a few, and its not compensated date. they are mostly girls 16 to around 23 year old students who are trying to make extra money on the side.

Most of them just provide basic services and that's it. They are inexperienced, but youthful. The thrill of having a go with *university* girls is what kept me trying them, and honestly I did end up meeting quite some gems who I kept in touch with them for years and got on friendly terms. Keep in mind they normally do this for a summer or a short period and then they stop, as most of them were locals in the city I live in.

The old procedures was to enter the chat room, and keep looking for a potential girl from her nick name. chat a little bit to see what is the deal, if there is a prospect, then we exchange QQ numbers, and move on to it. Webcam to verify both parties, once verified we enter final negotiation before deciding on a place, normally my place, or hers if her roommates/family were out of town (seriously) (i did one in my car once ). Cost 200 RMB for first shot with CBJ, some useless shower/massage and one shot, 2nd shot negotiable and overnight also negotiable (one girl I recall refused to take money cause she enjoyed it, instead she made me promise her to be her semi BF).

Those were the days , nowadays its hard to do that without a venue although the amateur students still do it, its just too hard to find them. In the old days, I end up contacting 5-10 different girls a day, now only can barely find 5 real girls per month.

The current trend I am noticing is, the increase of (young) mms that use QQ pretending to be one of those amateur girls and even webcam with you, then once you call she tells you the truth. That did piss me off, but still ended up requesting products from her, and they still were young girls but the thrill of the hunt was gone since it wasn't as real as it used to be before. But being the cute little punter that resides in my heart, I still keep them on my QQ just in case in the future I might be in the mood to try.

BTW, that is in Fujian if it is of any importance.

Never tried compensated date before, how does it go and how good is it?

This actually sounds like compensated dating to me. It started in Japan and now prevalent in HK. Check out this website: http://www.thefrisky.com/post/24 ... g-kong-schoolgirls/

Thanks for the link mate, that cleared it up. I used to think compensated dating was the act of school girls to go on a paid date (dinner/movie and potentially sex), That is why when you asked me I said it wasn't cause I never done anything other than sex. But now I understand the scope of "compensated dating'.

While still on this subject, how to find potential "compensated dates" in HK.

I no longer live in HK and do not know the chat sites. Think also the police in HK tried cracking down on this after the release of an amateur video of a school girl giving a BBBJ on the upper deck of a bus in HK. This brought compensated dating out into the open.

You're based in Fujian? Fujian girls are very pretty and there's quite an active KTV and Sauna scene in Xiamen but no one in the forum has ever reported on them. If you have any stories on that scene, sure bros would like to hear about them.

Yes mate, I used to be in Fujian for more than a decade before, and I do have some stories but the latest date to 2009. Not that new and the information would be worthless considering how quickly the scene there changed. But I will be back family vacationing in Fujian real soon, and I already started arranging couple of infamous Saunas and the few "CD"s I managed to get hold on to sample soon. Will be more than happy to post reports on that soon.

As for KTVs and nightclubs "yezonghui" in XM aren't as nice as before, and with SO around, I will be avoiding any scene that will take too long too suspicious . So am sticking to the easy and discrete fun for this time around.

I ran into this article today in a English newspaper...

I feel no pity for the pimps convict and sentenced....

http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/ ... ans-sex-slaves.html

That is one of the main reasons why i rarely go to brothels....
