an opinion about the phillippines from huffington post

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/da ... nd-mi_b_694544.html

i think this is pretty much spot on.  i love the people, super friendly, but just too damn complacent with mediocrity.

"  If the Philippines wants to get its act together and live up to its potential, it needs to demand more of itself. It can achieve this by stopping making excuses for its failures and ending its acceptance of the lowest common denominator. President Aquino promised to put an end to nepotism and corruption in government. The people should make sure he does this. When the police screw up a hostage rescue, the people responsible should be fired. And when a beauty queen blows an attempt to become the glory of the Philippine people, it should be recognized as such.  "

Very good article. Making EXCUSES is what the Filipino is all about. Had mentioned this is a previous thread. They just don't stop passing the blame and when all else fails, they say only GOD knows the truth and LOVES me.  Yes, how appropriate, blame GOD for your deficiencies.

yeah, making excuses and accepting excuses seem to be the norm for them.  my filipino friends seem to be hopeless and just accept whatever is given to them.  its one of those times where being overly nice really puts you into a position to finish last.

naw, im not condemning all the filipinos,  i like em.  they are great people, grew up with a bunch of them.  Maybe its not the most constructive way to approach the situation, but im sure all of us want to see the filipino's get themselves in a better position.

Another reason the Philippines is fucked up is that they always talk about religion.  Always about putting faith in God rather than electing good people to do the right job.

Filipinos are easily swayed by sentiment. Cory Aquino was president due to people power, Fidel Ramos was elected president as extended euphoria from people power, Erap was elected president due to his mass popularity as an actor, Noynoy Aquino was elected president due to his "incorruptible values", but also due to mom and dad.

the only one who didnt get elected, and hence, the most unpopular president in recent times, was Gloria Arroyo. she was at the right place at the right time, when Erap got booted out, and she cheated (and admitted on national TV) in the 2004 elections.

Don't worry about safety. There were demonstrations over the weekend about the handling of the incident but there was no violence against any Filipinos except some maid got spat on in a bus. HK is safe, a lot safer than the Philippines.

Hong Kong is one of the safest large cities in the entire world ...

there's more chance you'll get spanked for saying this "non-chinky eyes" then for looking like another race !

I think you need to edit & re-word what you just wrote before I spank you !!!
