Six charged over prostitution

Six people have been charged with prostitution-related offences following police raids in Brisbane.
Police raided addresses in the City, Woolloongabba and Kangaroo Point on Wednesday night as part of an operation targeting organised illegal prostitution activity advertised on the internet.
Six people have been charged, including two men aged 25 and 40 and four women aged 45, 46, 38 and 36, on 11 prostitution-related offences.

They will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court next month.
During the raids, police also seized cash and property totalling $3855.

That's right, once their in the game they never really retire, they become addicted to the easy money and lifestyle. If they can't make a living in a highly competitive environment like HK or BK they'll move into pimping or relocate to low competitive environments like Brisbane.

The police in Queensland once had a reputation for being notoriously corrupt and I doubt that's changed much. These poor sods mustn't have been paying their kickbacks or maybe the commissioner needed to be seen to do something.

The industry has been highly regulated (legislatively) for licences brothels and for how working girls can advertise and work.  There is a fair amount of angst between some of the 'legal' operators and those that work illegally so it is highly possible that one of the 'legals' has made a complaint.

As for police corruption now, it is a totally different ball game compared to the pre-Fitzgerald corruption days and it would be highly unlikely that bribes or kickbacks would be paid to current Queensland police officers in a situation like this - more likely to the pimps and parasites who feed off the wg's.

No doubt the legals did complain, what's unusual is that they arrested them in such a public fashion, there would have to have been some sort of political pressure for it to have happened in this manner.

The fitzgerald inquiry into police corruption was over 20 years ago. It may have put the broom through the rampant corruption of the time but it's had plenty of time to recover and while it may not have reached the heights of the Bejelke era, police corruption is alive and well in every state of this country
