All you needed was a doctor's prescription which costs US$60 and you can go and buy the best marijuana in the world made indoors in California for medicinal purposes. My friend had some, showed it to me in LA. Never seen anything like it, much better than what was produced when I was in college. The weed had tinges of purple and was oily with a sweet pungent aroma. Told me I can go to his doctor, say I have a sore back and get a prescription. Guess by paying tax, you won't need to pay $60 to the doctor any more. I am no longer a stoner these days though.

I've been reading about this new law enactment and the voting in Congress for the new marijuana legislation will get final approval in October. Many doctors will be out of business as prescriptions are no longer required. The doctors writing these prescriptions are no better than drug dealers as they charge an exorbitant price for a subscription. [ Last edited by  geoduck at 16-5-2010 21:55 ]

#6 Post at 16-5-2010 23:52  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L California was one of the first states to allow medical marijuana, but where I live in the past year, over 600 small shops had opened up in my city alone.  On top of that, the police had increased the fines for just about every vehicular violation, and the unspoken "10mph over the speed limit" grace period has been all but wiped out. Even last year, I would maybe see 1 police vehicle daily looking for offenders, now it's about 10-12 daily.  The states are hurting bad for money.

#7 Post at 18-5-2010 01:37  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L I think the cash strapped states should just legalize pot and get their taxes on it.  Rather than let illegal drug dealers setup grow ops and make all the profit.  The govt should legalize it and tax it and allow for some sort of quality control over it.  Its a better way of getting tax dollars then to hand out speeding tickets and increase our property taxes.

#8 Post at 18-5-2010 04:05  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L War on drugs The so called "war on drugs" has been the most expensive defeat that the U.S. empire has ever experienced and it still goes on, even now with their economy in tatters. Unfortunately we in Australia and its other allies are obliged to walk in lock step with this policy. The 1st step towards sanity as regards drugs would be to legalise possession. Unfortunately there are too many vested interests in maintaining the status quo.
