Does my voice really sound like that?

In that you can tell they are not native english speakers, however backwards when I speak Chinese to people do many ABCs and BBCs sound like that backwards to Native chinese speaking people i.e. stilted and obvious we are not native speakers?.

I'm kind of curious about this... in that WGs don't seem to notice except when I get stuck for a word or two, some of them comment you don't sound like a local..... is it this which gives it away?.

Life is short very...

wgs always assume I am from Singapore.  If you ever been to Singapore, you would understand.  Every I am in Singapore, I cannot tell if the local wants to use either English, Mandarin, or Canto to talk to me and terminology from all the different dialects and languages are all mixed together just like I would mix English and Chinese in a convo.

when I'm in HK, everyone gets mixed up because my Cantonese has both an American and Toisan accent to it.  However, in a matter of days, I can train myself to sound like those guys in the video - those guys are typical English-speakers with only a couple of years of experience.  When I was living in Singapore, after a couple of weeks I started sounding just like the locals - I started putting the 'lah' in every sentence.

They're just being polite, I'm sure. It is a service industry after all. And yes, it is excruciating listening to a recording of your own speech. I at least always think, who's that wanker, before realising it's me.
