Does a woman's nipples change after breastfeeding?

Over the years I have seen some interesting nipples.  I noticed for some of the ones who had children, their nipples look pinched larger or mis-shapen a bit.  Now is it because those nipples are the original ones they were born with or did their nipples get that pinched/bitten look from breastfeeding?

I don't have kids of my own so I don't any reference tits and nipples to check for reference of before childbirth, after childbirth, do breastfeeding effects.

Nipples do change after pregnancy - usually they get bigger and there is a change in the pigmentation of the nipple and areola.

I think the pinched/smashed look is actually from the brassiere.  The nipples get bigger from breast feeding and then don't fit into the girl's bra without getting smooshed over, causing the effect you're noticing.

Just a theory.  Not scientifically tested or anything.

I didn't do it.  Really I didn't.

The short answer is yes.  Breast feeding is actually pretty healthy for both the infant and the mother.  It helps mother from developing mastitis and engorgement.  The follicles to the mammary ducts are open for extended period of time during feeding.  So, the areola may get darker and bigger.

as answered before, yes nipples do change after pregnancy. typically the entire nipple and areola will go from a pinker shade to one that is more brown. also, the actual nipple will go from being a smaller "point" to more eraser type and protrude a bit more

Yup. Had a Shanghai girl recently, 23, who has a 1 year old kid. She said one thing she didn't like about breast feeding, was how her nips changed from pink to brown.

There are genetic reasons why new mothers develop larger darker nipples.  In the same way that we sleep at night so that we don't walk off a cliff or fall down a pot hole (they didn't have torches 10000 years ago), the larger darker nipples are easier for the baby to find in the dark.  Those big nipples are like eyes to a baby, just look straight into them.

Depends if the person who is sucking gets breast milk

Just to supplement this thread, girls' nips and areola also get tender and darker when their period are near as well...
