#1 Post at 8-2-2010 17:08  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L Job questions Hi A bit OT, but the HK job market quite simply how prevaliant are fake jobs? onsites like jobsdb.com  ? , in that in the UK fake jobs are endemic  you may search a website 100 jobs come up of which only 4-5 are real. Problem is I've been applying for jobs off jobsdb.com and at the same time been getting incredible numbers of telemarketers, I pick up all calls as it may well be somebody asking me to go to an interview, but then in HK picking up calls costs money, and considering I am on the other side of the planet it must cost a fair bit more. Job seekers are so embittered that they are suspicious about anyone contacting them about a job opening, thinking it must be a scam. My suggestion is as soon as possible, try to arrange to meet in person. Anyone who won't meet in person is likely a scam. Why? Sometimes to lure competitors' staff in and try and pry privileged information out of them. #5 Post at 9-2-2010 02:18  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L Reply #1 Kennichi's post Jobsdb.com's postings, I feel, aren't fake in a malicious sense, but more a scam for agencies to expand their own respective DBs.  Ultimately, whether or not it's a real or fake posting can prob be ascertained by the level of info given, i.e. Company Name/Address/Secondary Posting by HR Agency (all things that can be confirmed).  I'd say if you're really concerned, just stick to the Classified Post.  Those should be legit.

When I hear about them needing money first, that's the cue to say to them "Fuck off asshole".
