The attitude for Japan and Germany are totally different. From both education and government, in German... all people/students knows what they did and what they should not doing again. But in Japan, you may talk to any people on street and most of them didn't know what their grandfather does in China.

I'm not saying its good in German or bad for Japan, just different decision from government will make different result. Many of people in Japan saying sorry is because they want something.

I recently visited the remodeled Nanjing Memorial in (duh) Nanjing, and was deeply moved by what I saw. The problem I think with the pressure on Japan to apologize is that there is no authentic outrage amongst the people of the PRC. I was so pissed off that all these people were visiting this memorial like it was an amusement park attraction. Laughing, running about like a monkey, screaming, joking around......for Christsakes, these are your people that were massacred! Have some f'ing respect! From what I can gather, the only people who truly demand an apology from the Japanese are a.)survivors b.)people who study Chinese History c.)Chinese outside the mainland. I truly believe that the PRC government and the average mainland Chinese person doesn't give a shit if Japan apologizes or not. Even the protests against Japan in China seem so orchestrated and hollow.

ps. what really irked me was the little shop selling books and other crap at the memorial had these books with semi erotic covers of Chinese woman in sexually suggestive poses. Almost like softcore porn! How distasteful is that.....

It's not overly gruesome. I think anyone who has read the books on this topic, and have seen the photos can handle visiting the memorial. It's quite a long walk through so it is a bit overwhelming emotionally. I really can't imagine how it must of been back then. They did a good job of putting some of the more uplifting stories at the end of the memorial, like the story of John Rabe, a Nazi who so bravely put his own life on the line to save the Chinese people whom he loved. Oh.....but as you leave the exhibition hall, you have the option of passing through a excavated dig site where they found many skeletons of men, women and children. That part is quite difficult and erie.

ooops...don't mean to dash any Chinese students hopes here but Anri Suzuki's not offering sex! Hahaha...
