Guess you've all heard that Tony Chan - that Fung Shui master who claimed to have been Nina Wang's (Asia's richest Woman who passed away a few years back) lover - was arrested this afternoon. He had tried to claim through the courts that Nina had written a will that made him sole beneficiary to her estate, but the judge ruled that the will was a forgery. And that was AFTER she had paid/given him HK$2.8 billion when she was alive! I cannot help but think that this Tony Chan is very much an ungrateful opportunist and that he deserves to be getting in trouble now.   Karma! No seriously, Nina Wang and her husband may have been really the odd couple - to say the least - and that there are MANY people who actually hates them - but they were one of my first customers when I started my life in Hong Kong and it was them who gave me enough business to have made it here those first years. So, yes, I am firmly in the camp who really resent this Tony Chan. SEAJ

Nina Wang - for all her "unique qualities" was actually a vey well educated and nice person. Besides Shanghanese, Mandarin and Cantonese, she also spoke English good.  I think she finished her bachelor's degree in the States - at a time when not that many people in Hong Kong - never mind girls - had such education. And before Teddy went missing (when I knew her), she was also a very modestly and conservatively dressed lady.  I'm not quite sure what happened to her after then, and I did watch with amazement at some of the get-ups and look she adopted then. The IRD has now started "interviewing" a lot of fung shui masters who had previously claimed that all their income - being Lai sees - are not subject to income tax.  And of course Tony is gonna get visited by the tax men and probably going to be required to pay tax - plus penalties - for the $2.8 bilion.  BTW - the Hong Kong IRD has a conviction rate of lower 90% on ALL cases they bring up!! And then the judge has also awarded all costs to the Chinachem Foundation, payable by Tony!! The tall building represented her husband and the short one was her. The bridge connected the two buildings symbolize his arm on her shoulder. BTW - None of my friends/colleagues could believe that this was my relationship with them, as the Wangs did have such a lousy reputation. SEAJ

But what's the point of that, judge already made the decision and probably will be the final decision. Appeals will just be thrown out.
