If you can maintain your current income/life style, would you move to HK?

For a thought experiment, what would any of you gents do if you can choose?

I think I would need to significantly increase my income to maintain my current lifestyle I enjoy at home here in HK. But yes, at least for a while, I feel theres a lot to offer in a city such as HK.

Just focusing on one area...

I would never be able to afford a home in Hong Kong. I can afford to buy a condo apartment on my own in Canada. My place is of average Canadian size but just my bedroom alone is larger than many entire Hong Kong apartments. I don’t know how you locals can afford to buy a home.

Heck yah. Bang different girls every week. Get a domestic helper that cooks/grocery shop for you. I've been tempted to do this but all the jobs I found in HK so far requires me to take a huge pay cut.

Thankfully flying to HK round trip lately are usually under $600 from my airport so it's manageable.

Hi Zodek,

Maybe you could do some checking on salary if you work in Hong Kong and add in the allowances, if any, for location, accomodation etc.  Then work out the current expenses that you may not have if you stay where you are now. Perhaps the total 'package' would be better than you think.

Maximise the allowances for Hong Kong posting, maybe some tax advantages also. But do not forget the possibility of increased mongering activity.

You're right there is more to consider than just straight salary amount. For me, the major savings would be less tax working in HK and no need for car. Apartment cost is about same.

Unfortunately after doing all the calc I'm still making much less than in the US... tech jobs in HK (and in Asia/Europe region in general) have a huge gap compared to Seattle, NYC, and San Francisco area. I know of 1 or 2 companies in HK that would pay close to what I want but they are extremely selective.

I think the easier way for me to live in HK and still maintain similar ncome is to do remote work for a US based tech company. Then I can just live in HK or other mongering countries for weeks at a time.

I have recently moved to HK for about 2 years.  As it is very hard to find work in the IT sector in Scotland.

I'm choosing to live in Taiwan because I have some relatives in Taiwan. I don't live close to them though so I can have my own life. I chose Taiwan over Japan, China, and HK because I have some connection to the country and I can speak some of the local language.  My Japanese is horrible.

I can easily travel to other Asian countries though!

Moving to HK sounds fun for a few months (punt until i go broke) but then I'd have to give up good western food.

Hong kong is full of lust, just missing a casino. But I do not despair, because I can play a cool online casino on the site https://forestcasinos.co.nz/casino-cosmo/.

Good day. You are right, there really is not enough casinos, but it seems to me that in the future investors will go deeper into this topic, because it can be profitable.
