It can vary. Last winter was one of the coldest in HK with temps in the 10 Celsius range it felt like. It should be warmer than that during your stay but just be aware it could be cold.

The problem with Hong Kong is that its all concrete, rather than wood or brick, in that in the summer its like a storage heater and at night you can feel the heat radiating out the concrete walls....

In the winter its the reverse the concrete sucks the heat out of everything....

And thus 10C in the UK is mild , it feels worse in HK as things that are normal in Europe, ie heating , double / triple glazing , carpets and cavity wall insultation do not exist in HK.

Life is short very...

Hard to say really.  Generally at this time of year its about a fairly consistent 20c but from time to time for a period of a few days at a time, the weather can suddenly drop to about 10c so bring your shorts and t-shirts (if that's what you'd normally wear for about 20c) but also maybe your jeans and a jacket just in case.

I hate cold weather and always leave HK in January / February. I didn't last year because I was still recovering
from surgery and it was fuckin freeeeeeezing. Never again. This year, I'm off to summertime in South America.

Well as you can see everyone has different views of HK's winter..

Some of us wear jeans and a t-shirt...some say its 'cold, and some even leave the city for a couple of months....

It really depends on the weather you like and/or are already use to...for you I don't think you'll think its cold in HK seeing as how your saying its cold in Italy..

As for my personal opinion you cannot talk about weather in HK with the word cold....chilly at best...last winter for me was very comfortable, I could walk around the streets and not sweat which was great.

Right now the weather in HK is beautiful, 15-19ish in the mornings and evenings, and a warm 23ish in the afternoons.

Don't know about the rest of the world but Hong Kong is getting warmer year by year. I remember when I was a kid we had to put on scarves and gloves and carry a hot potato in our hands. Now my wife keeps complaining that Hong Kong has no winter any more - no chance to dress up. At most there are just a few days a year when temperatures drop to around 10 degrees. Winter is actually the most comfortable time of the year here. Neither hot nor cold. Love it.

I've lived in HK for a long time and can say that last winter was extremely cold. Usually winter in HK isn't cold at all. Just a sweater or a thin jacket would do the trick.

Normal autumn wear is fine but maybe the odd sweater, Jumper or Jacket is good too....

You can always stock up in HK which is cheap or i think you are heading to China this visit.... which is even cheaper!

Will add China is colder than HK though......
