I am curious if you agree with their term sex "slaves".  $15,000 may be wickedly over-priced for an english course... but seems the girls knew exactly what the gig was all about.  And agreed to it.  I hope they made decent cash for themselves.  If I recall, hookers aint cheap in Oz.  So perhaps they could pay off their debt in just a month or two seeing only 2 guys per day.  That gives them plenty of time to earn a lot of cash.   I am not sure if this analysis is true or not...  

I have heard a few similar tales from the Wanchai bargirls brought in from PI or Indonesia.  A few had agents that charged them crazy fees to get into HK.  They had zero earnings by the time there visa expired.  THAT is fuckin evil.    Most of the smarter ones just found a way to borrow the airfare and paid 100hk$ per nite for a boarding house bed with other gals.

Just curious on this subject and I tried to put together some numbers (purely from my point of view)

Ok, these girls arrive and they end up working 2yrs on and need to pay off $15000 AUD.

From my experience, Sydney prices are around $150 a pop (some are more expensive)  So say this is roughly the price.
And let's say their pimps get 2/3 of it, while the girl gets 1/3 (I don't really know how they get paid)

So she gets $50 a pop.

2 yrs, 365 x 2 days = 730 days
But let's say out of each month there is 7 days that she is on break, (7 x 12 x 2 =168 days)
730 - 168 = about 560 days

If she gets 1 pop/day, she'd earn 560 x 50 = $28000 which is already enough to pay back the pimp.

If she is averages 3 pops/day, she'd earn $28k x 3 = $84k (before debt)

If REALLY popular and averages 5 pops/day, she'd get $28k x 5 = $140k (before debt)

I dont think they get taxed, so just minus the debt, minus all their expenditures and THEN converting back to her home currency, that is A LOT of money!!!  So I'm sure the WGs do know what they are getting into and are willing to risk it.

Just for the discussion, I'm sure I'm no where near the actual figures.

Very expensive.  It is mentioned they need to pay back $5000 to the pimp, so it seems they need to come up with $10,000 up front to cover the rest of the tuition fee. It is also mentioned that they need to work 20 hours a day to pay back the $5000.  It is not said how long it would take to clear that debt or what the agent's cut is during the pay back period and after that. If they have to continue paying back the $5000 over several months or even the whole 2-year period without getting much cash in hand (despite working 20 hours a day),, then they might not have been fully aware of what they were in for. Those girls came from hk, but I have read newspaper reports of girls from poor south Asian countries being deceived and trapped into contracts in Brisbane and receiving almost nothing in return for the whole duration of their stay.
