Stock / Options Trading Strategies

I have a 401k and an IRA account that have the capability to trade stocks and options.  Does anyone have any strategies they would like to share?  So far, the best I came across is capturing dividends using covered calls.  I done crazy things like buying OTM call with a month to expiration.  I guess I learned my lesson from that one.
In the beginning, I use to buy and hold stocks and index funds.  I was all over the place and things got pretty messy really fast.  Then I just spread it across managed funds.  Last year, I got really lucky trading volatility during the Greek crisis, but luck isn't a strategy.
   Any ideas?

I have a friend in Yibin, who is getting 5% per month on a unsecured personal loan of 1,000,000.00rmb. He told me he could have opted for 2.5% per month and had it secured against a property or other asset..
