dress code in Macau casinos?

I want to visit Macau just for a day trip.
And because it is nice and warm these last couple of days, I like to wear a short (with normal shoes, not flip flops).
Can I still enter the casino's for some gambling? I read on the internet different stories. Some say Yes, some No...

Any inside information about the dress code nowadays?

Hey Bubulus,

the Casinos in Macau are not like many old school casinos in Europe.
Make sure you have some shoes, some pants and a shirt, everything else is not important at all.
The guys in macau are more interested in your money then in your dresscode

Might be a bit different in the VIP areas, high stakes tables, but all the public areas they dont care at all.

Have fun overthere

I do not know about ALL casinos but when I was there last year, I had to go and put on a shirt for Sands because the guard said you could see my tattoo!

What about flip flops?

One thing I've never been clear on is flip flops.

I have been turned away at Sands for wearing them.

I have been eyed warily at Lisboa but allowed to enter.

I didn't get any guff at Wynn or Starworld.

My belief is that officially they're not allowed in any casino, but
enforcement will depend on the guard on duty.  Certainly,
I've seen lots of gamblers wear flip flops all over the floor.

Well, if its up to me, i always prefer people wearing flipflops instead of so many funny guys, sitting on the table next to you and just remove their normal shoes. i mean hey.... its a free world sure, but no need to show me your cheesy smelly friends, maybe on top with tons of holes in the socks

Happend to me once with a Mainland Chinese (at least i think se, he was talking Mandarin). the guy wastes tons of money, but he wasnt able to buy some new socks

I went in the Grand Lisboa in a t-shirt and shorts with normal shoes earlier this year.  Back in 2008 long pants were required and I had to check my backpage at the front desk whereas this time I had my bag with me on the casino floor.  Have the casinos relaxed their rules?  Back in 2008 in order to use the ferry terminal to casino shuttle service I had to prove that I actually spent money at Lisboa before they would let me board whereas in 2011 it was no problem.

Just 2 weeks ago, I wore bermudas and slippers to MGM, Venetian and COD.
Was stopped by the security guy at MGM.
He said dangerous to wear slippers, in case someone break the jackpot glass, might hurt my feet.
I was like "Huh?!", then he let me in. That was weird.
At COD and Venetian, no problem. I just strolled in and out like the rest of the China guys in slippers.
Only difference is they are all wearing Prada / Gucci slippers.

I concur with the others... I visited Sands, Galaxy (day time), Lisboa (night time) and there was no problem to enter the casino's with a short pants.
However I would have thought that there would be more 'gamblers' with shorts, but frankly there weren't so many.

WTF?  Were you wearing some sort of gay mid-riff shirt?  Or no shirt at all??!

I didn't do it.  Really I didn't.

In some casinos, if you are wearing dark sunglasses and a hat, you have to take them off.  Some you will need some kind of ID and go thu a metal detector tp get in.

Just stayed at the Venetian a couple weeks ago. was in the casino from around 3 pm to 3 am. I was in cargo shorts, a t-shirt and hiking sandals... not so much as a second look from security. same the next day Venetian in the AM and then City of Dreams in the afternoon again in shorts and sandals... not a problem.

Macau Casinos have so many competitors, if one does not allow u to enter its casino,
then others will welcome u very well. that's why they have so many shuttle buses.
no need to worry about what u wear coz
u can still enter the casino even though u only wear slippers, shorts and t-shirt.

it is unlike casinos in Singapore, they will not allow u to enter their casinos if u wear slippers, do not bring passport, etc.

I dont want to know your name, i just want to bang bang bang......
