I saw an ad about spy cam in other forum. So basically we don't have to be James Bond 007 to have these spy watch cam, pen cam or car remote cam.

So have you guys ever try to use these kind of cam? How about the quality of pics & vids from this cam?

Um forum rules prohibit secret snaps of WGs, well posting them on here anyway.

what were you trying to us it for...?  the quality of those stuff usually depends on the price tag on it. plenty stuff like that on sale in HK

you can use a spy cam all you want (although it'd be a little creepy), but I hope you're not thinking about posting anything you take with that thing of WGs on the forum

I am sure the quality is very poor. It might be 640 X 480 resolution or less. For low light, I am sure it's even worst.  Check the lux rating, if it has a low number for low light.

Your cell phone should have better quality and sound than it.  The percentage it is made in China is high.

i think there is something like spy pen, lighter... already and you can get it in hk or shenzhen. but what is the point to get this kind of thing? i saw a video about the quality of the picture or video they posted in another forum , but the quality is not good. besides, i think it is not that good to post this kind of pics or video.

general consensus says that the quality will be bad unless you pay the high price for a quality piece.

Although...it would probably be much cheaper and more satisfying if you get yourself a digital camera and have the WG agree to it...

Thanks for all replies. I am just curious because I never tought that these 007's stuff are easily available for mongers like us. They put a really big banner to advertise their products on the other forum , so I guess many punters in Indonesia might already have these kind of stuffs to make them easier to make their "field report". I do undestand that  it is not acceptable to post something like that in this forum. So I guess I should be more cautious now when someone is playing with their pen, watch. lighter. etc.

A good quality "hidden" camera of that size would be shockingly expensive.  What comes to the consumer level is junk that makes your average 10 year old cell phone look advanced.

Most people who shoot "hidden camera" stuff do so by using a larger back pack or sports back, with a camera discretely hidden in a snap or end flap such that it is not easily visible.  Current cell phone quality is easy enough to do on that scale, and usually you can do better than that yet.

If your mandarin is good and you have the time, you could hit the electronic market in Shenzhen to see who would have the right parts for it.  There are probably some pretty good pre-made setups available.

Now the warning:  Considering that many of the WG types in HK and such are run directly or indirectly through triad style organizations, I would not be the brave soul to give this sort of thing a try.  Getting caught with it would likely turn you into HK harbor shark food.

This is a new type of spy cam. It syncs to your cell phone. It looks like a blue tooth headset. I was thinking of getting one. No one will realize that it is actually a camera. However the frame rate are not the best but It does shoot 720p.

I picked up one of the car alarm ones in HK for about 30HKD a year ago.  You have to get the one with the removable storage.  The picture quality is actually pretty good.  I have never used it with a WG because it is not convenient.  It only has two buttons and onen led light.  So you have to push the buttons in certain sequences, and you can't be sure if you have it correct until you hook it up to a computer later.  It's kind of a fun toy if you get it cheap.

Do you mean a car alarm can take a picture on who took your car?? It is an interesting device if this is what you mean but seems it is too cheap if it only cost HKD30.

You mean like this one? HKD 30???? Damn ...it is sold for approx HKD300 here in Indo. I guess some one is trying to make a huge profit from this kind of toys

Right... apart from the fact that there's a great big lens, and a red LED light to indicate recording, no no one will know it's a camera...

This is not a spy camera, dude. It's a legit personal video device, and is not designed to be discreet.
