MAPLE RIDGE, B.C. - A 16-year-old girl was drugged and raped repeatedly by partygoers at a weekend rave near Vancouver as onlookers snapped photos that have since found their way onto Facebook, the RCMP said Thursday.

The attack happened at a rave last Friday night on a rural property near Pitt Meadows, east of Vancouver. Police believe the girl was given a substance commonly know as the date-rape drug.

"It's essentially one male having intercourse and when he's done, another one participates — that's a gang rape," Insp. Derren Lench said in an interview.

"It's a sexual assault, it's an unwanted assault taking advantage of someone who is under the influence of this drug."

Lench said the girl was drugged and, while she was conscious at the time, she didn't remember what happened to her until several days later. She came forward to police once she discovered the photos on Facebook.

Parents should reminding their daugthers, don't drink any questionable drink, a glass of cocktail are very easy to mix with drug and difficult to taste out. girl should choose bottle size drink and carefully watch the bar tender screw out the bottle top. some guy will gang up with the bartender for hunting girl.

happen ppl are just in shock that it did happen. the thing that shocks me is the age of the ppl involved. i'm not saying if it

i can't understand why they would even allow raves to co-exist in the first place since they're known to have drugs and such all the time ..

First thing you want to do is to forget about it, and it's just impossible with how it is.

This is an absolutely awful crime and they should throw all these teenagers that raped the girl into prison even thought they're minors. Let seasoned fellow prisoners gang rape them and they'll learn fast enough what the poor girl was subjected to.

this is terrible. This girls must of have her close friends fail her.  Its important to have a good core of friends to watch your back with the vampires out there!

Once I was leaving 37D at 5am and saw a "gum mo jai" holding up a pretty sexy young thing out of a taxi, he was saying in Cantonese, "there is more stuff to play up here" and took her to one of those hourly hotels in the area.  She was zooted, and you can tell the guy was taking advantage.  There were lots of onlookers but no one did a thing.  Oddly enough there were no police around the area at the time.  I was thinking to call 999 but I didn't, maybe I should've.

Pretty bad story, and by no means should the actions be defended.

HOWEVER, any female expecting to go to a RAVE in North America, let alone Canada should be fully aware that they will be groped by idiots through their shirt, I mean, realistically, the consumption of E and K at such events are realistically around 75% - 90% of the crowd, most of them go for that very reason.

Poor parenting, and even poorer choices in friends and lifestyle is just as much to blame as the morons who engaged in this scenerio, common sense does need to prevail in certain scenes ...

Society is getting too soft!

Sure, there needs to be appropriate checks and balances, but people like these should be put down like rabid dogs. The are nothing more than animals, and I don't think that age/upbringing or anything else should be a mitigating factor. If you have it in you to do this as a kid, then you have it in you to do it as an adult, and you don't belong in modern society.

Sure, women are teases and some of them will use their femininity to advantage- FACT! But if anyone argues that because a gal goes to a rave party, then they can expect this, then you have a problem. There are some lines that should never, ever be crossed, no matter what.

My friend's sister was raped when she was 16. She was just a normal 16 year old, who like to go to parties and have a few drinks... When she was 25 she met a buddy of ours and they got along really well - up until that point she had not had a boyfriend. After six months or so, they decided the time was right and they got into bed together. They started the deed, but when he started penetrating her, she had a flashback and could not go thought with it. I have huge respect for my buddy, because he stopped straight away - he knew her situation and was very careful.

Just think about that - 9 years, in the prime of her life and she could not stand to have sex... Her rapist was out of jail in less than that... If nothing else, the justice system should enforce "an eye for an eye". She will suffer because of this for the rest of her life. How can her rapist be allowed to live his live?

This topic hits a nerve with me, because I have seen first hand the effect it can have. No mercy for these animals...

i also believe there should be no mercy for larger crimes.  I am a big fan of brutal capital punishment.  Here in US, its like a joke bc all the excuses of cost & overcrowded judicial system.

There is a HUGE difference here in Canada between a club event, electric music event and a rave, they are following to the MOST of the participants.

Club Event - Very much like a concert or afterparty, security is dead tight and law enforcement officers are plenty around, so very few incidents occur.

Electric Music Events - Different style of music but still very much like the clubbing scene, same amount of drug usage, but because the party ends at 2am, not many hooligans will participate in this scene.

Raves - Seen as a drug party since alcohol will be stopped around 2am, and if and when the party goes until 8am, the only resort to keep the fun going is to get high. In all the raves I've been to, unless you are going in such a large group, and known, most girls will be groped, that's just the reality of it here in Canada.

With that said, I don't at all condone any behaviour that resembles anything close to this, as like many suggested, it's nothing short of reverting humanity back into it's animal stages of evolution, but it's reality in North America, that's why there is so much stabbing and shootings after raves, for this very fact. You won't find much class in these events unfortunately, and cops know this as well, they're just too overwhelmed to stop it, because of its violent nature.
