I was watching the news in China and I misssed a full 15 minutes of HK news because it was blocked. Anyway, as far as walk ups are concerned cops don't usually bother you if your just a punter. They just tell you to leave.

Just say you are making a house call I had my run ins with HK cops and my advice is to stay cool and don't look nervous. If they give you are hard time, ask for their badge number. That will back them off.
