my HIV and Hep B result came in

and what a relieve, I am negative for either.  But I have to admit, the last 24 hours was the longest I have to ever wait..I was so nervous when I was listening to the results over the phone.

Actually, I am less worried about HIV then Hep B since the latter is 100 more times contagious and way more common in HK.  Never really gave this disease a thought before but did you know 10% of people have it in HK and the reason why there are so better liver cancer incidences in HK is because 1 out of 4 of these carriers will eventually become chronic Hep B carriers and their chances of getter liver cancer is 100 time more!  The more I read on this, the more serious I realize this disease is and the more worried I was.

All this time I thought I have Hep B but afraid to get tested...( I got a tat from a shady place in HK while ago)  You wont believe how good I feel now.

If you are tested negative, theres a vaccine you can get which I got immediately.  But it needs to be administered 3 times inorder for you to be protected.

EB virus can cause nasopharyngeal cancer. HPV can cause penile cancer also. Did you check them too?

It is quite common in HK. It is transmittable by sex. Even Andy Lau has it....

You're right Hep B is more common with asians but lots of people live it without any problems. There is a slight increase of cancers and liver disease with it though. Vaccination is a good idea especially for WGS or people who punt a lot. There are medication to suppress viral replication but only used in specific circumstances

I thought everyone in the US has the Hep shots, it's three shots total, I forget how it works but I think it's like 1 shot, then a few weeks another shot and then another shot a week later.  I think you are supposed to get a booster every 10 years, I know my kids get them, but my wife takes them so I really have no idea but I heard my wife saying something about a few new things added to kid's shots, not just the regular mumps measles and rubella shots anymore.

To clarify, my doc at Neo Health said really 10% of the population here in HK are carriers of Hep B, this doesnt nessarily mean they are sick..but apparently statistics shows that within this 10%, 1/4 of them will have liver cancer.  This is some scary sh*t..

As to vaccine, HPV vaccine should be more useful for us punters because in addition to sexual intercourse, HPV is transmittable through skin contact.

You're right! Especially the younger guys who plan to get married some day, you don't want to pass HPV to your future wife, that shit is scientifically proven that it "MAY" lead to cervical cancer in some women.
